OutsourceOp is a U.S. based operations agency that runs daily insurance brokerage operations for our clients such as renewals, underwriting, carrier management, and policyholder communication for a Texas insurance brokerage.
We're hiring an Insurance Operator/Underwriting Specialist to own underwriting cases end to end: cancellation notices, non payment notices, missing document requests, inspection findings, compliance requirements, mortgagee changes, etc.
Core processes are documented in SOPs, but many edge cases are not yet. Part of your job is documenting, as you work cases, you'll turn what you learn into SOPs so the process gets stronger every time.

Basic Skills
- Google Workspace (Sheets, Docs, Drive, Gmail)
- Comfortable learning new web-based platforms quickly

- Excellent written and spoken English — you'll
- Confident making outbound phone calls (at least one call attempt is mandatory on every case)
- Experience following written SOPs precisely and documenting every action taken
- Able to write clear process documentation — you'll be creating SOPs, not just following them
- Availability overlapping U.S. Central Time
- Reliable internet and a quiet environment for calls
- Desired Technical Skills and Experience (training provided — these are not required)
- U.S. insurance experience (personal lines, underwriting, or agency operations)
- Experience with carrier portals, CRM/AMS systems, or e-signature platforms
- Prior VA experience with a U.S. company
Detailed Responsibilities
- Monitor inboxes for carrier notices: cancellations, non-payments, underwriting requirements, inspection findings
- Triage every case correctly
- Contact policyholders and mortgage companies by phone, text, and
- Process mortgagee changes and amendments to policy information with carriers
- Submit required documents to carriers: signed applications, certificates, photos, exclusion forms
- Track all open cases in the UW spreadsheet and work them by cancellation deadline
- Document every call,
- Document each new case type or edge case as an SOP as you resolve it
- Pull weekly non-renewal and pending cancellation lists from carrier portals
- Prepare the end-of-month UW report
- Escalate blockers to your supervisor in writing before deadlines
- Videocall meetings with team
Underwriting is the main job, but as a growing operations company, you may be asked to support other related work as needed.
