**Part-Time | Remote | Long-Term Opportunity**
We are looking for someone who is unusually good at finding **interesting ideas hidden inside stories**.
This is not a traditional copywriting role.
It is not a social-media VA role.
And we are not looking for someone who simply takes a topic and asks ChatGPT to write a script about it.
Your job is to find stories, contradictions, behaviours and business decisions that make someone think:
**“I've never thought about it like that before.”**
The subject could come from almost anywhere:
* Psychology and human behaviour
* Relationships
* Business and entrepreneurship
* Famous companies and brands
* Celebrity and internet culture
* Sport
* Status and ambition
* Money
* History
* Technology
* Crime
* Advertising
* Strange cultural trends
* Unexpected success or failure stories
The industry matters less than whether there is a **strong idea underneath the story**.
## The Type of Content We Create
For example:
Kim Kardashian's story can become a script about how scandal changed from something that destroyed fame into something that can manufacture it.
Ferrari having hundreds of millions of fans but relatively few customers can become a script about how people who never buy your product can still increase its value.
Home Depot filling its early stores with empty paint cans can become a script about how perception influences whether customers trust a new business.
A chaotic relationship can become a script about how the person creating your anxiety can also become the person you depend on for relief.
Someone surviving extreme violence but being terrified to apologise to their father can become a script about how people often choose difficult things that preserve control while avoiding the difficult thing that removes it.
The interesting part is rarely just **what happened**.
The job is finding:
**Why is this interesting?**
**What does this reveal?**
**What is the hidden mechanism?**
**Why would somebody who knows nothing about the original story care?**
## What We Do NOT Want
We are not looking for generic content like:
“5 signs of a toxic relationship.”
“3 ways to grow your business.”
“Why Rolex is successful.”
“Ferrari has a strong brand.”
“Know your worth.”
“Work hard and never give up.”
These are observations anyone could make.
We want the layer underneath the obvious observation.
For example:
Weak:
**“Rolex is successful because people like luxury watches.”**
Better:
**“Scarcity has almost nothing to do with making a small number of products. Rolex can make around a million watches and still create scarcity because demand outruns supply.”**
Weak:
**“Ferrari has a powerful brand.”**
Better:
**“Ferrari's biggest fans may never become customers — but those non-customers help create the cultural status that makes the product valuable to the people who do buy.”**
That difference is the job.
## Your Role
You will own much of the research and early script-development process.
This includes:
* Finding fascinating podcasts, interviews, documentaries, articles, Reddit discussions, company stories and historical examples
* Reviewing long transcripts and source material
* Identifying unusual facts, contradictions and stories
* Finding the deeper idea underneath the obvious story
* Researching additional supporting evidence where necessary
* Developing strong hooks
* Turning the strongest ideas into short-form scripts
* Checking our existing script library to avoid repeating ideas we have already covered
* Adding completed scripts to Notion for final review
You can use **ChatGPT, Claude and other AI tools heavily**.
We actively expect you to.
But AI is not the skill we're hiring for.
The valuable skill is knowing when the AI has produced something obvious, boring or fake-deep — and being able to push past it.
## The Most Important Skill: Taste
We care heavily about your ability to distinguish between:
**An interesting topic**
and
**An interesting idea.**
“Ferrari” is a topic.
“Millions of people who will never own a Ferrari help make Ferrari more valuable to the people who can” is an idea.
“Relationships” is a topic.
“The person causing your anxiety can become the person you depend on for relief” is an idea.
“Success” is a topic.
“Success can be more psychologically destabilising than failure because failure allows you to keep believing happiness is waiting at the next milestone” is an idea.
We want someone who naturally looks for the second version.
## What We're Looking For
Strong candidates may come from backgrounds such as:
* Psychology
* Behavioural science
* Journalism
* Sociology
* Philosophy
* Copywriting
* Documentary research
* Business research
* Content strategy
A degree is not required.
What matters more is:
* Exceptional curiosity
* Strong pattern recognition
* Good judgment about what people will actually find fascinating
* Ability to read or watch something long and find the 2% worth turning into content
* Strong written English
* Ability to simplify complex ideas without making them simplistic
* Ability to find strong evidence and examples
* Comfort using AI tools
* Willingness to reject mediocre ideas rather than forcing every source into a script
* Strong organisation and reliability
## Important
We don't want academic writing.
We don't want corporate LinkedIn writing.
And we don't want scripts that sound as if somebody asked AI:
**“Give me a motivational lesson from this story.”**
For example, instead of:
> “This behaviour represents an anxious-avoidant attachment dynamic caused by intermittent reinforcement.”
We prefer:
> “The person making you anxious can become the same person you depend on for relief.”
Instead of:
> “Strong brands benefit from high levels of social proof.”
We prefer:
> “Ferrari has hundreds of millions of fans who will never buy the car — but those people are part of what makes owning one mean something.”
The research can be sophisticated.
The final idea should feel obvious **only after someone explains it**.
## Hours
This will begin as a small **part-time role**.
Approximately 10** hours per week initially**.
Hours can increase substantially if the quality of the work is strong.
We are looking for someone who can potentially grow into a long-term role.
## Paid Trial
Shortlisted applicants will complete a **paid trial**.
We will give you:
* Examples of our strongest existing scripts
* Source material such as a transcript, interview or company story
* Access to examples showing the standard we're looking for
You will be asked to:
1. Research the source.
2. Identify several possible angles.
3. Choose what you believe is the strongest one.
4. Explain briefly why.
5. Write one finished short-form script.
We are primarily testing:
* **Taste**
* Research ability
* Pattern recognition
* Ability to find the non-obvious angle
* Hook selection
* Depth of insight
* Writing ability
We are **not** testing whether you can follow a huge prompt perfectly.
We want to see how you think.
## How to Apply
Please include:
1. Your research, writing or relevant educational background.
2. What subjects you naturally spend time researching.
3. One example of a story, company, person or behaviour you think could make a fascinating short-form script — and briefly explain the hidden idea you would explore.
4. Begin your application with the word **“INSIGHT”** so we know you read the full post.
If you naturally consume a story and find yourself thinking:
**“Everyone is focusing on what happened. The interesting part is why it worked that way.”**
you may be a very good fit for this role.
