JOB OVERVIEW

POSITION SUMMARY
We are seeking a talented and experienced Product Designer to join our design team. This role will focus on developing both hard goods (kitchenware, home décor, tableware, storage solutions) and soft goods (textiles, bedding, table linens, home accessories) for our seasonal product lines. The ideal candidate is proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, has strong textile and print design skills, and understands the product development process from concept through production.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Design & Development:
• Create original designs for hard and soft goods across multiple home product categories
• Develop patterns, prints, and textile designs using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
• Design seasonal collections that align with market trends and brand direction
• Produce technical sketches, renderings, and detailed specifications for manufacturing
• Create colorways and maintain brand color standards across product lines
• Develop presentation boards and line sheets using Adobe InDesign
Product Development & Production:
• Manage products from initial concept through final production
• Create comprehensive technical specification packages including materials, construction details, and finishes
• Collaborate with overseas vendors and factories to ensure design integrity
• Review and approve prototypes, samples, and pre-production units
• Provide feedback and revisions to manufacturing partners
• Support quality control processes and address production issues
• Assist with cost analysis and value engineering when needed
Collaboration & Communication:
• Work cross-functionally with merchandising, sourcing, and sales teams
• Present design concepts and seasonal line reviews to internal stakeholders
• Research market trends, competitive products, and consumer preferences
• Attend trade shows and markets as needed
• Maintain organized design files, asset libraries, and documentation

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience:
• 3-7 years of professional product design experience in hard and soft goods
• Proven track record designing home products, textiles, or related categories
• Experience working with overseas vendors and understanding of manufacturing processes
• Portfolio demonstrating strong design skills across multiple product categories
Technical Skills:
• Expert proficiency in Adobe Illustrator
• Expert proficiency in Adobe Photoshop
• Advanced proficiency in Adobe InDesign
• Strong understanding of textile and print design
• Ability to create camera-ready artwork and production files
• Knowledge of pattern development and repeats
• Technical specification writing experience
Design Capabilities:
• Strong understanding of color theory and trend forecasting
• Excellent visual communication and presentation skills
• Ability to translate concepts into commercially viable products
• Understanding of materials including ceramics, glass, metal, wood, textiles, and finishes
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes for both hard and soft goods
Professional Skills:
• Exceptional attention to detail and organizational abilities
• Strong time management skills with ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• Problem-solving mindset with focus on practical solutions
• Adaptable to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Self-motivated with ability to work independently and as part of a team

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor's degree in Product Design, Textile Design, Industrial Design, or related field
• Experience in the wholesale/import industry
• Knowledge of product safety standards and compliance requirements
• Proficiency in Adobe After Effects or Premiere
• Experience with CAD software
• Familiarity with retail market and consumer trends
• Trade show and market experience
