We are seeking a dependable, compassionate, and highly organized Remote Virtual Medical Assistant to support a kidney care coordination program. This position is ideal for someone with experience in medical assisting, patient outreach, appointment coordination, medical documentation, or chronic care management.
The Virtual Medical Assistant will communicate directly with patients, provide administrative support to the clinical team, assist with care coordination activities, and help patients remain engaged in their healthcare.
Schedule
Full-time remote position
Must be available during Mountain Time business hours
Expected schedule: approximately 8:30 AM–5:00 PM Mountain Time
Candidates must be comfortable working the corresponding overnight schedule in the Philippines
Must be available to start immediately
Key Responsibilities
Conduct outbound calls to patients for enrollment, follow-up, and routine check-ins
Assist patients with scheduling appointments and communicating with healthcare offices
Gather and document patient-reported health information
Update patient charts, care plans, tasks, and outreach records accurately
Identify non-emergency concerns and escalate them to the appropriate clinical team member
Assist with medication-list reviews and document patient-reported medication updates
Support patients living with chronic kidney disease and other chronic conditions
Help identify barriers involving transportation, food, housing, medication access, and appointment attendance
Research community resources based on each patient’s location, eligibility, and needs
Coordinate with nurses, providers, pharmacies, dialysis centers, caregivers, and community organizations
Protect patient privacy and follow HIPAA and confidentiality requirements
Complete assigned tasks accurately and within required deadlines
Provide cross-coverage and additional administrative support as needed
Required Qualifications
Previous experience as a Virtual Medical Assistant, Medical Assistant, Care Coordinator, Patient Care Coordinator, or similar healthcare professional
Strong spoken and written English skills
Clear, professional, and compassionate phone communication
Excellent documentation and typing skills
Ability to understand medical terminology
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established workflows
Ability to manage multiple patients, follow-ups, and deadlines
Reliable attendance and consistent availability
Ability to work independently without constant supervision
Comfortable learning new electronic medical record and care-management systems
Must be able to begin working immediately
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with chronic care management, remote patient monitoring, nephrology, primary care, or dialysis patients
Experience using an EMR or EHR system
Familiarity with Epic, Cerner, eClinicalWorks, Athenahealth, or similar platforms
Knowledge of Social Determinants of Health and community-resource navigation
HIPAA training or previous experience handling protected health information
Technical Requirements
Reliable computer in good working condition
Stable high-speed internet connection
Backup internet connection or reliable contingency plan
Quality headset with a clear microphone
Quiet, private, and professional workspace
Workspace must protect patient information and prevent interruptions during calls
Reliable electricity with a backup plan strongly preferred
Compensation
$3.75–$4.50 USD per hour
Final rate will depend on relevant experience, communication skills, and overall qualifications
