High Energy Experience Sixth Grade Math Tutor
I am looking for an experienced, high-energy online math tutor for my daughter Kennedy, age 11, in 6th grade.
This is NOT an entry-level role and it is NOT for someone who has only taught lower elementary grades. You must have a teaching degree and real experience teaching math to 6th grade students or higher.
About Kennedy
6th grade, big, bubbly, outgoing personality — she loves fun, laughing, and games
Diagnosed with dyslexia, ADHD, and low working memory (clinically low range)
She can forget directions partway through a task and lose her place in multi-step problems — this is neurological, not laziness or defiance
She learns best with chunked steps, visual supports, repetition, and multisensory teaching
Our goal is NOT just finishing assignments — it is Kennedy understanding the math well enough to explain it in her own words
How lessons work
Each session is 1 hour on Google Meet
40–45 minutes: teaching — homework, projects, test prep, extra practice (worksheets / IXL), and breaking concepts down until they click
15–20 minutes: connection and fun — getting to know Kennedy, games, and brain breaks that have nothing to do with schoolwork, so she stays engaged and wants to keep coming back
After each session, send me a short recap
You MUST have
A degree in Education, Mathematics, or a related teaching field
Experience teaching MATH to 6th grade or higher (middle school or above) — please do not apply if your math experience is only with younger grades
Experience explaining and breaking down concepts, not just giving answers
High energy, patience, and a fun, engaging teaching style — a low-energy, lecture-only style will not be a good fit
Clear spoken English
Experience tutoring online 1-on-1, a reliable computer/internet, and a quiet teaching space
Experience with dyslexia, ADHD, or other learning differences is a strong plus
