JOB OVERVIEW

Happy Wednesday! Thank you so much for taking the time to review our job posting. ????

Priority will be given to applicants who:

- Write an ORIGINAL cover letter/response that directly addresses our requirements (i.e. not copied/pasted to high-volume applications).

- Do NOT use ChatGPT / AI tools to write your cover letter. We want to meet YOU first — your voice, your thinking, your honesty.
(We’re not anti-AI; we just want your application to reflect you.)

=====
ABOUT US
=====

We’re Agency — a small (intentionally small), values-centric fractional marketing team serving ambitious, ROI-driven clients.

We take our work seriously, but we also take care of each other. We’re big believers in:

- Clear communication
- Kindness + professionalism
- Doing excellent work without burning people out
- Building long-term working relationships (not revolving-door hiring)

If you’re the kind of person who takes pride in quality, communicates honestly, and likes being part of a team that truly supports one another — we’d love to hear from you.

=====
OUR MISSION
=====

Our fiduciary duty is to provide our clients with integrity-led marketing centered on measurable ROI and delivering value long after our work is done.

=====
OUR VALUES
=====

We hire for alignment with our values and candidate transparency/honesty above all else. We’re proud of how much our team cares — about our clients, about the work, and about doing right by each other.

Candor as a Compass
----------
Our word is our bond. We communicate honestly, clearly, and directly — even when it’s hard — because trust is everything.

Purpose Over Profit
----------
We only take partnerships we truly believe in, where we can deliver meaningful, lasting impact.

Double or Nothing Approach
----------
We aim for total conviction that every dollar billed is likely to return multiples in long-term value.

Data Tell the Story
----------
We prioritize based on evidence. If it doesn’t show up in the data, it doesn’t count.

Fail Forward Philosophy
----------
We take smart swings, learn fast, and improve relentlessly — without blame, ego, or drama.

=====
ROLE OVERVIEW
=====

We’re hiring a full-time Head of Off-Page SEO to own off-page SEO and white-hat linkbuilding for multiple clients.

This is not a “spray and pray” backlink role.
This is not PBNs.
This is not buying links and calling it SEO.

This is a senior role for someone who:

- Understands what high-quality, defensible off-page SEO actually is
- Has executed multiple white-hat linkbuilding strategies across industries
- Can own planning and execution — but also build a scalable system around it
- Can document SOPs and delegate administrative tasks to others so you stay focused on the highest-value work

You’ll be responsible for strategy, execution, vendor/research management (when applicable), QA, reporting, and building repeatable systems that protect quality as we scale.

=====
WHAT YOU’LL DO
=====

Off-Page SEO Strategy (Primary)

- Own the off-page SEO roadmap for multiple clients (varied industries and competition levels)
- Assess off-page baseline and link profile quality (risk, relevance, authority, anchor distribution, velocity)
- Build linkbuilding strategies aligned with each client’s goals, constraints, and brand reputation
- Prioritize tactics based on projected ROI and defensibility (not vanity metrics)

White-Hat Linkbuilding Execution (Primary)

You will be expected to have extensive experience across a wide range of legitimate linkbuilding tactics, including (at minimum):

- Local citations (single-location and multi-location), including cleanup and consistency where needed
- Industry-aligned guest post outreach (relationship-driven, relevance-first, quality-first)
- Resource page outreach and link insert opportunities (only where context and quality are legitimate)
- Digital PR / earned links (where appropriate) and thought-leadership placement
- Competitor link analysis and gap strategies (replicating what’s defensible, not what’s risky)
- Unlinked brand mention reclamation and broken link reclamation
- Partnership links (vendors, associations, sponsorships) where it makes strategic sense
- Linkable asset promotion (helping content get earned links through real outreach)

Important note:

- We care about relevance, quality, and long-term defensibility.
- If a tactic wouldn’t survive a manual review (or would embarrass a client if discovered), we don’t do it.

Systems + Delegation (Critical)

- Build and maintain SOPs so linkbuilding is repeatable and scalable
- Define which tasks should be delegated (research, prospecting lists, data entry, citation submissions, follow-ups, etc.)
- Train and manage other tea ---------- mbers who support you (assistants/researchers)
- Create QA checklists so delegated work stays high quality
- Set up clean trackers and workflows so projects don’t stall

Outreach + Relationship Management

- Lead outreach strategy and messaging guidelines (email templates, follow-up sequences, personalization standards)
- Maintain and grow a high-quality prospect database (publishers, local directories, associations, niche sites)
- Coordinate with clients when approvals, brand constraints, or relationship leverage is needed

Reporting + Performance Communication

- Track progress and report clearly (links earned, quality, relevance, authority trends, anchors, traffic impact where measurable)
- Communicate what matters and what doesn’t (we don’t worship DR; we care about outcomes)
- Identify risks early (toxic placements, unnatural patterns, reputational risk) and correct fast

Team Collaboration

- Collaborate async via Slack, Loom, and comments
- Ask questions early; communicate blockers immediately
- Track work clearly so projects don’t stall

=====
JOB REQUIREMENTS
=====

- 35–40 hours per week (full-time); flexible working hours
- Prompt communication and reliable follow-through
- A dependable computer, stable power, high-speed internet + backup hotspot
- Comfort using GSuite (Google Drive, Docs, Sheets) and basic Microsoft Office
- Ability to accept payroll via Wise (formerly TransferWise)
- Willingness to log hours using a time tracker (e.g. Hubstaff)

=====
REQUIRED SKILLS / TRAITS (NON-NEGOTIABLE)
=====

- Honesty and candid communication — even when it’s uncomfortable
(We can work through almost anything with transparency. Trust is the only thing we can’t rebuild once broken.)

- Extensive experience with white-hat linkbuilding (multiple tactics; multiple industries)

- Strong understanding of link quality (relevance, intent, editorial standards, risk, anchors, velocity)

- Ability to build a strategy and then execute it consistently (not just “ideas”)

- Strong organization (clean trackers, clear documentation, predictable workflow)

- Ability to manage multiple clients/projects without dropping balls

- Ability (and willingness) to document SOPs and delegate lower-value tasks so your time stays focused on strategy and high-leverage execution

- A growth mindset — you genuinely want to improve, not just “get by”

=====
DESIRED SKILLS (BIG PLUS)
=====

- Experience with local SEO off-page work (citations, local relevance, multi-location scaling)
- Experience with SEO tools (Ahrefs, SEMrush, Majestic, Screaming Frog, etc.)
- Strong outreach writing ability (clear, professional, non-spammy, relationship-first)
- Experience building internal processes and training others
- Familiarity with evaluating link risk (manual penalties, spam signals, unnatural patterns)
- Comfort collaborating with on-page SEO/content teams to support linkable assets
- Ability to set up cold email infrastructure (domains + DNS) and software (e.g. Instantly.ai) for outreach automation

=====
EXPECTATIONS
=====

- Your manager will be there for you — and we will set you up for success — but…
- After onboarding, you’ll be trusted with real autonomy
- You’ll be expected to communicate clearly, meet deadlines, and own your work
- We have a strict policy against logging/billing hours when you aren’t actively working
- If you can’t reach expected hours in a given week (sick, power outage, etc.), tell us as soon as possible

=====
BENEFITS / HOW WE TAKE CARE OF OUR TEAM
=====

We work hard to build a place people actually want to stay — and we back that up with action.

- Paid Time Off (PTO) for full-time tea ---------- mbers (after probation)
- Paid holidays, including a company-wide Christmas/New Year break (Dec 23 – Jan 1)
- Regular raises and performance-based growth opportunities

AND — one of our biggest commitments:
- After 12 months of full-time employment, you become eligible for our 4-day workweek benefit:
- 25% pay raise, and
- 20% reduction in hours
(Example: moving from ~40 hours/week to ~32 hours/week without any reduction in earnings.)

We don’t offer that to sound impressive. We offer it because we care about sustainability, family, health, and long-term performance.

=====
HOW TO APPLY
=====

Please include:

1) A short ORIGINAL cover letter answering:
- Why this role is a fit for you (specifically)
- The off-page/linkbuilding tactics you’re strongest in (and which you avoid, and why)
- A time you received tough feedback and how you handled it
- Confirmation you’re comfortable with time tracking + full-time hours
- One example of how you’ve scaled linkbuilding responsibly (systems, SOPs, delegation, QA)

2) Proof of experience (required), ideally including:
- 2–3 short case summaries of off-page SEO work you personally owned
(Industry, starting point, strategy, tactics, timeframe, outcomes, what you learned)
- Example trackers, SOP excerpts, or process documentation (redacted is fine)
- Tools you used and how you used them (briefly)

3) Your computer setup + internet speed (and whether you have a backup connection)

Optional (but helpful): include the phrase “Candor as a Compass” in your subject line so we know you read the full post.

=====
CLOSING
=====

Thank you again for your time and consideration. If you’re a high-integrity person who loves building defensible, high-quality off-page SEO — and you want to be part of a team that genuinely supports you — we’d love to hear from you.

Have a wonderful rest of your week ahead. ????
