We need an estimator who can own pricing end-to-end inside Simpro—fast, accurate, and structured. You will build quotes that are job-cost ready, with clean cost centres, prebuilds/assemblies, correct labour allocation, and proper purchasing structure so the ops team can run the job without re-building your work.
What you will do (non-negotiable)
• Build complete Simpro quotes for:
• Luxury residential HVAC installs (VRV/VRF, ducted, ventilation/HRV/ERV, exhaust)
• Commercial HVAC projects (small–mid commercial installs, refurb/fitouts, upgrades, plant replacements, duct/vent/exhaust, controls coordination)
• Create and maintain Simpro prebuilds / assemblies (per FCU, per grille run, per condenser, per ventilation system, per VAV/FCU/duct section where relevant)
• Perform takeoffs from plans (Bluebeam) and translate them into:
• BOMs (materials + equipment)
• Labour by task/category (not one blended blob)
• Correct cost centres and margins
• Run supplier RFQs, compare alternatives, and lock pricing with lead times
• Produce tight scopes, exclusions, and assumptions (so we don’t get carved up later)
• Support variations and re-pricing when drawings/specs change (common on both resi + commercial)
• Handover packages that ops can execute: clean line items, purchasing ready, install logic obvious
You must be excellent at Simpro
You should be able to do this without hand-holding:
• Quote templates and consistent structure across jobs
• Prebuilds/assemblies that don’t break reporting and job costing
• Labour rates and labour types aligned to how the job is actually built
• Cost centres set up so we can track profitability properly (VRV indoor, pipe/braze, duct, electrical coordination, commissioning, ventilation, controls, builders works allowances, access equipment, etc.)
• Clean purchasing flow (no missing items, no “forgot the controls/condensate pumps/consumables”)
Required experience
• Proven HVAC estimating experience across residential and commercial
• Strong understanding of:
• VRV/VRF systems and install constraints
• Ductwork, grilles, airflow, ventilation systems (HRV/ERV, exhaust)
• Reading architectural and consultant drawings and identifying clashes early
• Basic commercial concepts: plant access/cranage allowances, after-hours works, builder prelims interfaces, fire/smoke implications where relevant
• Bluebeam proficiency for takeoffs/markups
• Strong written English (your quote notes and exclusions matter)
Preferred
• Australian market familiarity (pricing realities, NCC/AS1668 awareness)
• Daikin VRV experience
• Ability to sanity-check sizing and provide design feedback (not a full designer role, but you should spot obvious errors)
How to apply
Send:
• CV
• 2 example quotes you’ve produced (redacted) or Simpro screenshots showing quote structure, cost centres, and prebuild usage
• Your rate + availability
• A short note: what you do in Simpro that most estimators don’t
Screening
You’ll be given a small test pack (plans + scope) and asked to return:
• A Simpro-ready quote structure (cost centres, labour split, equipment, key materials)
• Assumptions/exclusions written like someone who’s been burned before
