JOB OVERVIEW

Remote | Full-Time | 40 hours/week | $1,700/month

We’re a UK-based estimating and quantity surveying consultancy supporting subcontractors and contractors across UK construction projects.

We’re now hiring a Groundworks / Civils Cost Estimator to join our growing remote team and support our expanding project workload.

This role is specifically focused on groundworks and civil engineering estimating, so applicants must have a strong understanding of this area, not just general construction estimating.

?? Role Summary
This is a back-office, full-time role focused on producing accurate estimates, take-offs, and BOQs for UK-based construction projects.

You’ll work closely with our directors and internal team — no client communication required.

?? Key Responsibilities
• Complete detailed material and quantity take-offs for groundworks and civils projects
• Prepare Bills of Quantities (BOQs)
• Review plans, drawings, specifications, and tender documents
• Produce clear and structured cost estimates using UK pricing
• Work across items such as excavation, drainage, foundations, concrete works, external works, utilities, roads, and associated civils packages
• Maintain pricing databases and update rates as needed
• Follow internal templates, systems, and estimating processes

?? Requirements
• 3+ years of experience in estimating or quantity surveying
• Strong experience in groundworks and/or civil engineering estimating
• Good understanding of UK construction drawings, specifications, and terminology
• Knowledge of BOQs, take-offs, and pricing structures
• Proficient with measurement software, ideally Bluebeam
• Advanced Excel skills
• Excellent written and spoken English
• High attention to detail and strong organisational skills
• Ability to meet deadlines and manage tasks independently
• Stable internet and a working setup suitable for take-off and cost estimation work

• Shortlisted candidates will first complete a quick pre-qualification interview.
• Shortlisted candidates will be asked to complete a quick skills assessment to help us understand your approach and accuracy.
• Training will be provided on our internal systems, templates, and preferred methods — we don’t expect you to know everything from day one.
