JOB OVERVIEW

Dear future creative partner!

We are looking for a Virtual Assistant / Social Media Designer who really understands advertising.

Not just someone who knows how to use Canva, Photoshop or AI.

We are looking for someone who understands how an advertisement should look, feel and communicate to a Dutch and European audience.

That distinction is very important to us.

A design that might work in the Philippines, India or another market does not automatically work in the Netherlands.

Dutch advertising is often cleaner, more direct and more subtle. Typography, spacing, colors, photography and the amount of information on the screen all matter.

We need someone who understands that.

You need to be able to look at an advertisement and understand:

* What should grab attention first?
* What message needs to be understood within seconds?
* Which words should stand out?
* How do you use text without destroying the design?
* How do you make an advertisement feel native to the Dutch market?
* How do you make someone stop scrolling without making the design look cheap?

If this already sounds familiar to you, keep reading.

What we are looking for:

* Experience creating social media advertisements
* A strong understanding of advertising for Dutch or European audiences
* Very good understanding of typography, hierarchy, spacing and composition
* You know how to use text inside a design without making it look crowded
* You understand how to visually communicate one clear message
* You have a strong feeling for color combinations
* You can take a marketing concept and turn it into a visual that actually makes sense
* You understand that a good ad is not necessarily the prettiest ad
* You know how to create visual hooks that make people stop scrolling
* You follow social media, advertising formats, trends, memes and new creative concepts
* You can work with Canva, Photoshop, Figma or similar design tools
* You are comfortable experimenting with AI, but you don't depend on it
* You can recognize when an AI-generated image looks fake or unnatural
* You are confident enough to challenge an idea if you think the design can be better
* You communicate clearly and can work independently

Experience with Meta Ads, performance marketing or recruitment marketing is a big plus.

And yes, having a slight social media addiction is actually useful for this job. ????

A little more about Social Techniek Vacatures:

Social Techniek Vacatures helps technical companies in the Netherlands find new employees through social media.

We create recruitment campaigns for companies looking for mechanics, technicians, engineers, work planners and other technical professionals.

Instead of waiting for candidates to search through job boards, we put our clients directly in front of the right people through platforms such as Facebook and Instagram.

Our team currently consists of:

* A Social Media Manager
* A Systems Manager
* A Recruiter
* A Marketing Manager

You will work mostly with our Marketing Manager.

He has been running advertising campaigns on Meta for more than 10 years and loves experimenting with creative advertising concepts.

That is also why this isn't a normal design job.

We don't want stiff corporate recruitment advertisements.

And we definitely don't want the same template with:

Stock photo.
Big headline.
Three icons.
Company logo.
Done.

We want to create advertisements that people actually notice.

Sometimes that's a very clean advertisement.

Sometimes it's a WhatsApp conversation.

Sometimes it's a handwritten note attached to a computer.

Sometimes it's a meme.

Sometimes it's a timer inside a work van.

Sometimes it's something completely different.

The concept always comes first.

Your job is to help us turn that concept into something that looks believable, professional and visually strong.

A big part of the job is working with text inside advertisements.

We create ads where the copy itself is often part of the visual concept.

That means you need to understand how to highlight certain words, create hierarchy and guide someone's eyes through the advertisement.

The message needs to be immediately understandable without making the design look like a flyer full of text.

This is very important to us.

Things we do NOT want:

* Generic Canva templates
* Designs that look like cheap recruitment advertisements
* Random fonts combined without a reason
* Poor spacing or alignment
* Colors that don't work together
* Too many visual elements fighting for attention
* Designs created without thinking about the target audience
* AI-generated images where you can immediately see that they are AI
* Fake-looking people, hands, tools, workplaces or environments
* Designs that look good technically but don't communicate anything
* Someone who simply copies our reference without understanding why it works

We use AI ourselves and we love it.

But AI should make the work better.

It should never be an excuse for bad design.

What you will mainly be doing:

* Creating Meta ad creatives for Facebook and Instagram
* Turning our advertising concepts into finished designs
* Creating multiple variations of strong concepts
* Integrating headlines, subtitles and other copy into visuals
* Improving existing advertisements
* Creating new visual hooks
* Adapting creatives for different vacancies and clients
* Thinking along with us about new concepts
* Keeping an eye on advertising and social media trends
* Using AI when it genuinely improves the creative

You don't need to invent every campaign from scratch.

A lot of concepts will come from us.

But we don't want an order taker.

We want a creative sparring partner.

Someone who receives an idea from us and thinks:

“I get what you're trying to do. But I think it will be even stronger if we do it like this.”

That's the person we're looking for.

Before you apply:

Please don't send us a generic portfolio with logos, restaurant menus, flyers and presentation designs.

We specifically want to see social media advertisements.

Preferably advertisements created for companies or audiences in the Netherlands or Europe.

Send us 3 to 5 advertisements that you personally designed and that you believe show your best advertising work.

Also briefly explain which one of those advertisements you think is the strongest and why.

We are especially interested in how you think about:

* Attention
* Typography
* Message hierarchy
* Target audience
* Conversion

If you have read everything, start your application with the word “Scrollstopper”.

Applications without relevant advertising examples will not be considered.

Think you understand the kind of creative work we're looking for?

Then we'd love to see what you can do.
