ABOUT US
We are an established North American ecommerce company, sixteen years old, selling reusable, sustainable products directly to consumers. We are small, we move fast, and we have been profitable and independent the whole way.
We want a Design person who would like to own the Graphic Design department of our business.
SCHEDULE
Work your own daytime hours in the Philippines. We need 2 to 4 hours of overlap with our mornings in North American Eastern Time, which is roughly 9pm to 1am Manila time, so we can review work and get revisions back same day.
THE HONEST SHAPE OF THIS JOB
This is a graphic design job with a daily video routine attached.
The video side is not hard. We edit in
The design side is where we need you to be genuinely good. Packaging, ad creative, product page graphics,
Expect your week to be roughly 40 percent video and publishing, 60 percent design.
WHAT YOU WILL OWN
1. DAILY VIDEO AND PUBLISHING
- Around 10 new video cuts per week, edited in Descript from raw footage of our founder talking to camera
- Repurpose and reformat existing videos so we have 2 posts going out per day
- Add captions, on-screen text, music and simple graphics
- Upload and schedule everything in Metricool for YouTube Shorts, TikTok and LinkedIn
- Write the social captions for each video and put them in a shared Google Drive doc, then send the link over so the Instagram and
- Occasional longer horizontal edits for YouTube
2. PAID AD CREATIVE
- Static image ads for Meta, built from product photography, customer reviews and product benefits
- Multiple variations and sizes of each concept so we can test properly
- Video ad cutdowns from footage we already have
3. WEBSITE AND
You are not building or redesigning the website. You are designing the things that go on it. If you have UI/UX experience - fantastic!!
- Product page graphics: infographics, feature callouts, size charts, comparison charts, how-to-use visuals
- Homepage and collection banners, campaign and landing page graphics
-
- Product photo retouching and clean-up
- Everything mobile first, because most of our customers are on their phones
4. PACKAGING AND PRINT
- Edits and updates to existing packaging artwork and dielines
- New packaging for new products, working from our specs
- Inserts, hang tags, labels, care instruction cards, thank you cards
- Print ready files: correct bleed, CMYK, and files a manufacturer will not send back
You will also keep our brand assets organized so we stop losing files, and keep everything looking like it came from the same company.
WHAT YOU NEED TO HAVE
- A portfolio of real design work. This is the thing that d
- Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. You need to be genuinely fast in both.
- Print and packaging experience. You know what a dieline is, you set up bleed correctly, and you understand what a printer or manufacturer needs from you.
- An eye for what sells. Our ads and product graphics have a job to do. Pretty is not enough.
- Written English good enough to write our social captions. Your captions go out under our brand name.
- A reliable computer and internet that can handle moving large video files without you losing half a day to it.
- Curiosity about AI tools and a willingness to build them into your workflow. We want you faster, not replaced.
ON VIDEO EXPERIENCE: it is a bonus, not a requirement. We are not asking for a showreel. Descript is genuinely easy and we will teach you. If you have edited video before, tell us. If you have not, that will not count against you.
ON DEGREES: a design or fine arts education is a plus, not a requirement. We will read every portfolio properly regardless of what is on your resume.
ON EXPERIENCE: more is better, but we are open to someone fresh out of university, or still in it. We have hired people at that stage before and it worked out well. If your work is good, apply.
NICE TO HAVE
- Descript, or any text based video editor
- Premiere Pro or After Effects for the occasional heavier edit
- Figma
- Familiarity with Shopify page and section design
- Klaviyo or any
- Experience working with a direct to consumer brand or an ecommerce store
WHO THIS JOB IS NOT FOR
- Anyone who skims. We are detail people, and this job is full of details that cost real money if you miss them, like a bleed setting or a wrong price on a package. So here is the check: start your application with the word mango, in lowercase. It is the only place we mention it, and we will not remind you again further down. Applications without it get deleted without being read.
- Anyone who needs a creative director to hand them a brief. Nobody here is going to art direct you. You get the product, the footage and the goal, and you come back with the work.
- Anyone who is going to be quietly running four other clients at the same time. This is a full time job.
- Anyone who wants to only design and never touch the video routine. The daily publishing has to happen, every day, and it is part of the job.
HOW TO APPLY
There are two steps, and step one is quick on purpose. We do not want you spending hours on a task before we have even seen your work.
STEP 1, RIGHT NOW: send us your portfolio and your answers to the questions below.
Your portfolio. A link we can open without asking permission. Show us design work. If any piece was made with AI tools, say so next to it. We do not mind AI in the process, we mind being misled.
The questions. Short answers are fine, honest answers are better. Please don't use AI for the answers - we can detect it easily. We want you to write in your own words.
1. Rank these four from your strongest to your weakest: packaging and print, static ad design, website and
2. Tell us about one thing you designed that had a job to do, like selling something or explaining something, and how you knew whether it worked. If it's something you did in university or for a client, please attach it with explanations.
3. Walk us through one packaging or print file you have prepared. What was it, what were the specs, and did it come back from the printer correctly the first time? If you have never done print work, say so and tell us about the most technically demanding file you have prepared instead.
4. Have you edited video before? If yes, what software and how long does a 60 second vertical video with captions take you. If no, just say no.
5. Which of these do you have you worked on before and for what purpose: Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, After Effects, Figma, Canva, Descript?
STEP 2, ONLY IF WE LIKE YOUR PORTFOLIO AND YOUR ANSWERS: a short test task will be given to you.
If your work is a fit, we will get in touch and send you a task that takes about 2 hours, using our real files. One static ad, one packaging text change, and one short video cut. Nobody gets asked to do this until we have looked at their portfolio and d
