JOB OVERVIEW

We’re Badass Outdoor Gear, an outdoor and hunting gear company based in Utah in the USA. We sell archery equipment, hunting gear, outdoor apparel, e-bikes, optics, and more through our retail store and Shopify website.

We’re looking for an EXPERIENCED Graphic Designer / E-Commerce Website Designer who can take an idea and turn it into professional, attention-grabbing graphics that help sell products.

This is NOT an entry-level position.

What I Need

I will give you the basic direction of what I want. From there, you need to take ownership of the project.

For example, I may tell you:

“We need a homepage banner promoting Sitka hunting gear.”

It will be your responsibility to come up with the design concept, find or create the appropriate graphics, determine the layout, create the promotional message, and deliver a finished design.

I am very direct, move quickly, and do not have time to provide step-by-step instructions. If you expect me to repeat myself with directions because you cannot read well or take good notes properly then this job is not for you.

Ask me the questions you need upfront, then get the project done.

I want someone experienced enough that I do not have to constantly correct their work.

Responsibilities

• Design Shopify homepage banners and website graphics
• Create product advertisements and promotional graphics
• Create graphics that catch attention and sell products
• Find, edit, or create graphics/images needed for each project
• Develop creative concepts instead of waiting for detailed instructions
• Help redesign and improve our Shopify homepage
• Create graphics for sales, product launches and seasonal promotions
• Maintain consistent Badass Outdoor Gear branding
• Proofread everything before submitting it
• Suggest design and promotional ideas that could improve our website and sales

If you are good, there is a lot of ongoing work available. I would eventually like this person to help redesign our homepage and replace/improve most of the graphics throughout our website.

REQUIRED Skills

• Strong professional graphic design experience
• Excellent English communication
• Excellent spelling and grammar
• Experience designing for e-commerce
• Ability to work independently with minimal instruction
• Strong creative ability — you need to bring your own ideas
• Fast and responsive communication
• Excellent attention to detail
• Ability to meet deadlines without being reminded
• Professional portfolio showing REAL work you personally created

Highly Preferred

• Shopify experience
• Hunting/outdoor industry experience
• Experience designing for outdoor, hunting, archery, sporting goods, or apparel brands
• Understanding of the U.S. outdoor/hunting customer
• Experience designing website graphics specifically to increase clicks and sales
• Photoshop / Adobe Creative Suite or similar professional design software

Position

• Ongoing work
• Approximately 15–30 hours per week to start. Pay will depend on your qualifications and experience.
• Opportunity for more hours if you are excellent
• Flexible schedule
• Must be available to communicate with the owner regularly
