ELLSEY Creative is looking for an experienced Graphic Designer to join our creative team, working across a diverse portfolio of brands, industries and creative projects.
We’re looking for a designer with strong creative judgement who can understand what needs to be communicated, who it needs to connect with, and develop the right creative response. Someone who can work within established brands while still bringing fresh thinking to the work, and who cares about the details that separate good design from great design.
This is a hands-on creative role for someone who can think independently, work confidently at pace, take ownership of their work, and consistently deliver to a high standard.
Role focus:
As a Graphic Designer at ELLSEY Creative, you’ll work across a broad range of client brands and design requirements, from everyday content through to campaigns, publications and larger creative projects. You won’t simply be implementing layouts or waiting for someone else to determine the creative direction. We expect our designers to think.
You should be able to understand the content, audience and objective, determine how it should be communicated visually, and carry that thinking through to the finished work. You’ll need to move confidently between different brands and styles without allowing your own personal design style to dictate every outcome.
Key responsibilities:
Develop creative concepts and visual directions across client projects
Design high-quality digital and print assets across multiple brands
Create campaign creative, social media assets, EDM graphics, presentations, documents, publications, marketing collateral and other brand materials
Take supplied content and determine the strongest way to communicate it visually
Apply and extend established brand identities across different formats and applications
Translate complex or content-heavy information into clear, visually engaging design
Create strong layouts with considered hierarchy, typography, composition and use of imagery
Source, select and work with imagery and visual assets appropriate to each brand and project
Prepare artwork correctly for digital and print production
Maintain consistency and attention to detail across every deliverable
Manage multiple projects, brands and deadlines without compromising the quality of the work
Take ownership of design outcomes from initial concept through to final artwork
Design capability:
You are highly proficient across the Adobe Creative Suite, particularly:
InDesign
Illustrator
Photoshop
You have strong foundations in typography, layout, composition, colour, visual hierarchy and brand application.
You understand that strong design is not simply about making something look good. It needs to communicate clearly, support the objective and feel right for the brand and audience. You can work within an established brand system without becoming constrained by it. You know how to create variety, develop new ideas and keep creative fresh while maintaining the integrity of the brand.
How you think:
- You bring ideas to the table
- You can look at content, understand what it is trying to communicate and determine how it should come to life visually. You don’t need every creative decision made for you before you can begin.
- You notice when something feels off. You care about proportion, spacing, typography, hierarchy and the small details that affect the overall quality of a design.
- You are comfortable receiving feedback, but you also have enough experience and creative judgement to explain your decisions and contribute your own perspective.
- Most importantly, you understand that working across multiple client brands requires versatility. Great design for one client may be completely wrong for another.
Working at ELLSEY Creative:
ELLSEY Creative is a fast-moving creative environment. You’ll work across multiple clients, projects and priorities, often moving between very different brands and styles throughout the day.
You need to be comfortable working at pace. Priorities can shift, deadlines can be tight, and several projects may be moving at the same time. You can adapt quickly, stay organised and keep a clear head without allowing speed or pressure to compromise the standard of your work.
You’ll work with a high level of autonomy and ownership. We expect you to manage your workload, communicate early when something needs attention, meet deadlines and maintain our creative standards without needing constant direction.
We care about both quality and momentum. Great work matters, but so does being able to deliver it efficiently.
Highly regarded but not necessary:
Creative direction or senior-level design experience
Brand development and visual identity design
Website and digital design
UX/UI and an understanding of digital user experience
Motion graphics or animation, including After Effects
Video editing
Long-form documents, publications and information-heavy design
What matters:
This role suits someone who:
- Has strong creative instincts and excellent design fundamentals
- Produces work that feels considered rather than templated
- Can think conceptually as well as execute
- Works quickly and efficiently without sacrificing attention to detail
- Is comfortable managing multiple priorities and tight deadlines
- Remains focused and solutions-oriented when things get busy
- Can move quickly between very different brands and visual styles
- Takes ownership rather than waiting for constant direction
- Has exceptional attention to detail
- Cares deeply about the standard of the finished work
We’re looking for someone who wants to contribute creatively and take responsibility for the quality of what leaves the studio.
