Grant Researcher & Proposal Writer – Canadian Funding

## About the Position

We are a Canadian organization looking for an intelligent, resourceful, and highly organized **Grant Researcher & Proposal Writer** to join our team remotely.

This is **NOT a general Virtual Assistant position.**

Your primary responsibility will be to find funding opportunities in Canada and help us develop strong applications.

We need someone who can independently research opportunities, determine whether we qualify, explain why an opportunity is worth pursuing, and prepare professional funding applications.

## Your Responsibilities

### Grant Research

You will:

* Research Canadian federal, provincial and municipal grants.
* Research foundations, corporate giving programs and community funding.
* Search government funding portals and other grant databases.
* Identify less obvious funding opportunities.
* Determine eligibility before recommending a grant.
* Identify application deadlines, funding amounts and requirements.
* Research relevant statistics and supporting information.
* Identify potential partnerships and other opportunities that could benefit the organization.

### Grant Writing

You will:

* Prepare grant applications and proposals.
* Write Letters of Intent and funding requests.
* Develop needs statements, program descriptions, objectives and measurable outcomes.
* Assist with grant budgets and supporting documentation.
* Edit and proofread applications before submission.
* Ensure applications directly answer the funder's requirements.

### Grant Management

You will maintain an organized Grant Tracker showing:

* Funding opportunity
* Funder
* Amount available
* Eligibility
* Deadline
* Application requirements
* Website/source
* Status
* Date submitted
* Follow-up date
* Result

You will also provide regular updates on upcoming funding opportunities and application deadlines.

## Who We Are Looking For

We want someone who is naturally curious and enjoys research.

You should be the type of person who doesn't stop after the first Google search.

If information is difficult to find, you keep investigating.

You should be able to come back to management and say:

“I researched this opportunity. We appear to qualify because of A, B and C. The maximum funding is X. The deadline is Y. These are the documents we need, and I recommend that we apply.”

We value **accuracy, initiative and judgment** more than simply producing a large volume of applications.

## Requirements

You must have:

* Excellent written English
* Excellent online research skills
* Strong professional writing ability
* Excellent attention to detail
* Ability to work independently
* Strong critical-thinking skills
* Ability to follow detailed instructions
* Strong organizational skills
* Experience with Google Docs and Google Sheets or Microsoft Office
* Reliable computer and internet connection

Previous grant-writing, proposal-writing, research, nonprofit, academic research or government-funding experience is strongly preferred.

Experience researching Canadian, American, UK or Australian grants is an asset.

## AI Use

You may use tools such as ChatGPT to assist with your work.

However, **AI-generated information must never be submitted without verification.**

You are responsible for checking eligibility, deadlines, funding amounts and requirements directly from reliable or original sources.

We are hiring a **researcher and thinker**, not someone who simply copies AI-generated answers.

* Why the organization may qualify
* Any restrictions or concerns you identified
