Role Overview
This role owns Google Ads end to end, across a full portfolio of client accounts. You are the only Google Ads person on the team, and you are trusted to make the strategic calls yourself. Nobody hands you a campaign structure or finished ad copy to load in. You build it!
When a new client comes on board, you take it from kickoff to launch. You get them fully set up and you make every technical and strategic decision along the way. You work directly inside the accounts yourself. You are the point of contact for any question about an account you own.
This role does not own client meetings or client reporting. Another team member handles the client relationship and report delivery. You are the strategic and technical engine behind the account, not the face of it.
Core Responsibilities
New Client Setup & Onboarding
- Own full setup of new Google Ads clients from kickoff to launch, including CallRail tracking numbers, call forwarding and recording configuration, GA4, Search Console, Google Ads conversion tracking, and linking Google Business Profile(s)
- Diagnose and fix conversion tracking issues yourself
- Build campaign and ad group structure from a client kickoff, including keyword research and targeting strategy
- Set up or coordinate landing pages for campaigns where a dedicated page will outperform sending traffic to the main site, thinking in terms of the full customer journey from ad click through conversion, not just the ad itself
Hands-On Execution
- Work directly inside Google Ads accounts yourself
- Write original ad copy, headlines, and descriptions from scratch for new campaigns
- Manage bids, budgets, and targeting adjustments based on your own read of the performance data
- Proactively flag and act on optimization opportunities you notice, rather than waiting to be asked
Other Platforms & Account Administration
- Set up and manage campaigns on Microsoft Ads
- Meta Ads and ChatGPT Ads may come up for specific clients. It's a plus if you're comfortable picking up a new ad platform's setup process on your own, without needing a step-by-step guide, but this is not required
- Handle advertiser and business verification requirements across platforms
- Take on adjacent account administration tasks as they come up. This role is not limited to a fixed task list
Being the Point of Contact
- Field questions about any account you own, from teammates or from the client directly over
- Flag anything that genuinely needs escalation, but the default expectation is that you can answer the question yourself
What This Role Does Not Own
- Client meetings and report delivery stay with the founder and the client success lead. You are not expected to lead calls
- Report automation is a separate, ongoing project. You are not building or maintaining the reporting system
What We Offer
- A real team, not a vendor relationship. You'll work directly with the people making decisions, not kept at arm's length because of where you're located
- Real ownership. You're trusted to make the strategic calls yourself, not handed a task list to execute
- Deep focus on one niche: home service and local service businesses, so you build real expertise instead of relearning a new industry with every account
- A real standard for the work. We chase the 80/20 that actually drives results and stay current on where paid search is headed, not the same playbook we ran two years ago
- A long-term, full-time seat on the team, not a per-project gig, with flexible, async-first hours
- Competitive pay, with room to grow as your ownership grows
Required Skills & Experience
- 3+ years managing Google Ads independently, including a specific account where you changed strategy based on your own read of the data
- Experience managing $5,000 to $20,000/month in combined ad spend across 5+ accounts, including setting up an account from scratch with conversion tracking
- Comfortable writing ad copy from a blank page and picking up new ad platforms on your own
- Hands-on with Google Ads, Microsoft/Bing Ads, GA4, Google Tag Manager, and CallRail, plus landing page setup and full-funnel thinking
- Willing to push back on requests that aren't worth the effort, backed by data or reasoning
- Strong written English for clear async communication
- Home services experience and/or Meta Ads experience is a plus, though not required
How This Role Will Be Measured
- New clients launch on time, with conversion tracking validated before going live
- You make optimization decisions proactively, not just when told to
- Account questions get a clear, direct answer without needing to be escalated
- You push back on weak ideas or requests, backed by reasoning
- Multiple accounts run at once without missed deadlines or dropped issues
