READ THIS WHOLE POST. There is an instruction at the bottom that
will eliminate most applicants. That's intentional.
WHO WE ARE
Sotena Group is a US-based agency. We build content and operational
systems for service businesses. Right now that means roofing
companies, home health agencies, and our own brand. More clients are
coming.
THE ACTUAL JOB
Most editing jobs hand you a script and a shot list. This one does
not.
I film constantly. Phone footage, long unscripted takes, client
walkthroughs, job sites, me talking to a camera for eleven minutes
straight. Ninety percent of it is unusable. Somewhere in the other
ten percent is a hook, a story, and a reason for someone to stop
scrolling.
Your job is to find it.
You will receive raw folders with zero direction. You will watch
everything. You will pull the
will turn those
- Reels with music, pacing, cuts on beat
- Talking-head cuts with word-level captions
- Story posts with text overlays that read fast
- B-roll sequences that make a boring trade look expensive
- Client-facing content in a totally different voice than mine
You d
text. You choose the sound. I approve or I redirect. I am not going
to hold your hand and I am not going to give you timestamps.
WHAT YOU ACTUALLY NEED
- Fluent in Premiere Pro or CapCut Pro or DaVinci. I do not care
which. I care that you are fast.
- You understand retention. You know why the first 1.2 seconds
d
without googling it.
- You can write. Hooks, captions, on-screen text. In English that
sounds like a human, not a translation.
- Sound design is not an afterthought for you.
- You have opinions about pacing and you can defend them.
- You can take a 90-minute raw file and hand me three finished
pieces without asking me a single question about what to use.
VOLUME AND RHYTHM
Expect 15 to 25 finished short-form pieces per week across two or
three brands. Some weeks are heavier. Some weeks you are digging
through backlog. There is always a backlog.
You will work inside our systems. Notion or Airtable for the
pipeline, Google Drive or
you cut and why. I want to be able to see your reasoning.
WHO THIS IS WRONG FOR
- You need a script before you can start
- You have a template you apply to every video
- You edit exactly what you are told and nothing more
- You have never posted your own content and watched it fail
- You are juggling four clients and this is client five
WHO THIS IS RIGHT FOR
Someone who watches short-form obsessively, has strong taste, is
tired of editing to spec for people with no vision, and wants to be
the reason a brand grows instead of the person who exports the file.
PAY AND GROWTH
$1,200 USD per month to start. 40 hours per week. Paid on the 1st
and 15th, no exceptions, no late payments, ever.
At 90 days, if you are what this post describes, we go to $1,500.
At six months we discuss $1,800 and a per-brand bonus structure as
we add clients.
Philippine holidays observed. 13th month pay. Paid time off after
90 days.
This is a long-term seat. I am building a team, not filling a gap.
The person who takes this role and takes it seriously will end up
leading the editing side of this company.
HOW TO APPLY
Do not send me a cover letter. Do not tell me you are a passionate
video editor. Do not tell me you hope this message finds me well.
Anything that opens with a template gets deleted before I finish
the first line.
Send exactly this, in this order:
1. Start your message with the word CLEAVER on its own line.
No CLEAVER, no read.
2. Three links to short-form videos YOU personally cut. Not team
projects. Not agency reels. Yours.
3. Pick ONE of those three. In under 150 words, tell me what you
CUT OUT and why. I do not care what you left in. I care about
what you killed and what your reasoning was.
4. One sentence: the last piece of short-form content that made you
stop scrolling, and the specific technical reason it worked.
5. Your editing software, your turnaround time on one 30-second
reel from raw, and your timezone overlap with Pacific Time.
Strong applicants get a paid test: one raw folder, 48 hours, three
finished pieces, $50 flat regardless of outcome. If the test is
excellent you start the following Monday.
