Shot Blast Media is looking for a creative, versatile, and experienced Freelance Video Editor to support our team on an ongoing freelance basis, with an expected commitment of 5 days per week.
This is a fully remote, editor-focused role for someone who can confidently move between fast-paced social edits, brand content, founder-led personal brand content, and longer-form YouTube and storytelling-led edits.
You’ll be editing a wide range of content — from punchy vertical social videos with strong 3–5 second hooks, to longer-form brand stories, case studies, founder-led content, and YouTube videos. We’re looking for someone with strong creative instincts, solid technical ability, and a sharp eye for storytelling, but also someone who understands how content performs across platforms and can use that understanding to shape better edits over time.
The ideal person will be comfortable looking at YouTube performance data, understanding what it is saying, and using those insights to improve pacing, hooks, structure, retention, and overall content performance. This role is not just about editing well — it is about helping content perform better, travel further, and contribute to long-term channel growth.
You’ll work closely with our team remotely, collaborating across projects and agreed deadlines, with some overlap with UK working hours preferred for communication and feedback.
This freelance engagement has the potential to develop into a permanent role in future, depending on business needs and mutual fit.
What You’ll Be Working On
Short-form social media content for brands, especially vertical/portrait formats
Content creation edits for both client brands and founder-led personal brand content
Longer-form YouTube videos, brand stories, case studies, and documentary-style edits
Promotional, brand, and campaign videos
Repurposing existing long-form and archive content into fresh, platform-specific edits
Supporting the growth and development of YouTube channels through stronger editing, optimisation, and content repurposing
Helping build channel authority through consistent, strategic, high-quality content output
What You’ll Do
Edit engaging, high-quality video content across multiple platforms
Build strong 3–5 second hooks that capture attention quickly
Add energy, pace, and polish through strong editorial choices
Edit content for both brand channels and founder-led personal brands
Repurpose older and existing content into new edits for social, YouTube, and wider content distribution
Work closely with producers and creatives throughout the edit process
Incorporate basic motion graphics in After Effects, including titles, transitions, and callouts
Maintain consistency, quality, and technical accuracy across all deliverables
Manage multiple projects efficiently and hit deadlines
Organise project files clearly and work effectively within a remote workflow
Edit with YouTube best practice in mind, including pacing, structure, retention, and audience engagement
Support channel growth through a solid understanding of titles, thumbnails, watch time, audience retention, click-through rate, discoverability, and SEO fundamentals
Analyse YouTube content performance data and use insights to shape stronger edits over time
Understand audience behaviour and apply that understanding to hooks, storytelling, structure, and edit decisions
Help identify opportunities to improve channel performance, strengthen content strategy, and build long-term channel authority
Role Requirements
Experience & Background
5+ years’ editing experience in a production agency, post-production environment, or similar creative setting
Proven ability to edit both portrait social content and longer-form narrative or YouTube-led content
Experience editing for brands, campaigns, founder-led content, case studies, or documentary-style pieces
Strong understanding of pacing, story flow, and structure
Experience repurposing content strategically across multiple platforms
Experience supporting YouTube channels or content-led brands is highly desirable
Technical Skills
Highly proficient in Adobe Premiere Pro
Competent in After Effects for basic to intermediate motion graphics
Skilled at creating strong, attention-grabbing opening hooks
Good understanding of codecs, formats, aspect ratios, and delivery specs
Basic audio, colour, and finishing skills
Confident working remotely with shared drives, feedback rounds, and organised project workflows
Good understanding of YouTube workflows, channel optimisation, and SEO best practice
Able to work with existing content libraries and identify repurposing opportunities
Good understanding of YouTube analytics, performance data, and audience behaviour
Able to interpret data and turn it into practical editing improvements
Creative Skills
Ability to add flair, texture, and polish to edits
Strong sense of rhythm, timing, and emotion
Good visual design instincts
