JOB OVERVIEW

I’m looking for a talented freelance video editor for occasional projects ranging from short-form tourism reels to longer-form lifestyle and travel videos.

I’m a professional photographer/filmmaker based in Canada, working with tourism boards, travel brands, and outdoor/lifestyle companies. I’m looking to build a relationship with a reliable editor who I can send projects to on an ongoing basis.

The type of work:

Short-form Instagram/TikTok/Reels content
Tourism and destination marketing videos
Outdoor and adventure content
Lifestyle and travel videos
Longer-form cinematic videos
Interview/story-driven content

What I’m looking for:

Strong sense of pacing, storytelling, and visual composition
Ability to create cinematic edits that feel natural and authentic
Experience editing travel, tourism, outdoor, lifestyle, or commercial content is a major plus
Strong music selection and ability to cut to music without making edits feel overly formulaic
Good understanding of sound design, colour, transitions, and overall polish
Ability to take a large amount of raw footage and identify the strongest shots/story
Strong attention to detail
Comfortable working independently from a brief and reference examples
Reliable communication and ability to meet deadlines
Proficiency in Premiere Pro or Davinci Resolve
Familiarity with professional camera footage and large project files

I’m not looking for basic social media editors who rely heavily on templates, flashy transitions, or generic editing styles. I’m looking for someone with a strong creative eye who understands how to make footage feel cinematic, engaging, and authentic.

Most projects will be provided with organized footage and a brief. I’m happy to give creative direction, but I want an editor who can also make good creative decisions independently.

This will start as occasional freelance work, but there is potential for regular projects for the right person. Workload will vary depending on upcoming projects.

I’m looking for someone I can build a long-term working relationship with, rather than hiring a different editor for every project.
