About the role
We are seeking an experienced Finance Controller to join GREENMACHINE SW LTD on a full-time basis. This is a strategic finance leadership position based in the United Kingdom, where you will take ownership of the financial accounting and reporting functions within our organisation. The Finance Controller plays a crucial role in ensuring accurate financial records, regulatory compliance, and providing meaningful financial insights to support business decision-making at all levels.
What you'll be doing
Overseeing the preparation and accuracy of financial statements in accordance with relevant accounting standards and regulatory requirements
Managing the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and month-end and year-end closing processes
Implementing and maintaining robust internal controls and financial policies to safeguard company assets
Leading and supervising the accounting team, providing guidance, training and performance management
Preparing detailed financial analysis, variance reports and management accounts to support strategic planning
Ensuring timely and accurate tax compliance, including corporation tax returns and VAT submissions
Developing and improving accounting processes and systems to enhance efficiency and reduce risk
Liaising with external auditors and managing the audit process
Providing financial advice and recommendations to senior management on business opportunities and cost control measures
Maintaining statutory records and ensuring compliance with Companies House and other regulatory requirements
What we're looking for
A professional accountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) or substantial demonstrated experience in financial accounting and reporting
Minimum 5-7 years' experience in a Finance Controller, Senior Accountant or similar finance leadership role within a commercial organisation
Strong expertise in financial accounting, statutory reporting, and GAAP or IFRS principles
Proficiency with accounting software and systems, with experience in financial reporting tools
Advanced Excel skills and the ability to analyse complex financial data
Excellent knowledge of UK tax regulations, VAT, PAYE and corporate compliance requirements
Proven experience in leading and managing accounting teams effectively
Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines
Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex financial information for non-financial stakeholders
Integrity, reliability and a commitment to maintaining high ethical standards
Experience with payroll administration and pension scheme management (desirable)
Knowledge of sustainability reporting or ESG metrics (desirable)
