JOB OVERVIEW

That Ford Girl Trucking — A Trucking Agency is looking for an experienced Fleet Manager/Dispatcher to join our growing U.S.-based trucking operation.

This is not a virtual assistant position and not an entry-level dispatch position. We are looking for someone who already understands U.S. trucking, freight markets, load boards, broker negotiations, driver management, HOS, trip planning, and how dispatch decisions affect truck revenue.

Your primary responsibility is simple: make good fleet and dispatch decisions, plan ahead, negotiate strong freight, and keep assigned drivers moving safely and productively.

Responsibilities
Search load boards and approved freight sources for profitable loads
Evaluate rates, mileage, deadhead, market conditions, HOS and truck positioning
Negotiate rates with U.S. freight brokers — do not simply accept the first rate offered
Book and dispatch freight
Plan reloads and backhauls before trucks become empty
Monitor driver locations, HOS, appointments and home-time needs
Communicate professionally with drivers and brokers
Handle routine load issues and know when something needs to be escalated
Track detention, layover, TONU and other accessorial situations
Keep fleet/load information updated
Help maximize truck productivity while making sound operational decisions
What We're Looking For

You should have previous hands-on experience dispatching U.S. trucks and be comfortable making decisions independently.

Strong candidates will understand RPM, deadhead, freight markets, rate negotiation, HOS, appointment scheduling and how to position a truck for its next load.

Negotiation ability and revenue awareness are extremely important to us. We want a Fleet Manager who understands that an additional $100–$200 negotiated onto a load matters and is willing to professionally negotiate for the best reasonable rate.

You should also have strong English communication skills, good judgment, organization and the confidence to manage drivers without needing approval for every routine decision.

Schedule & Support

Our general management and operational support hours are 7:30 AM–6:00 PM Eastern Time (U.S.).

The Fleet Manager will eventually participate in a shared rotating after-hours coverage schedule with management for legitimate time-sensitive driver/load matters. This rotation is designed so management team members also receive protected off-time.

You will not be expected to run the entire back office yourself. Our Agency has operational and administrative support for onboarding, documentation, compliance coordination, revenue tracking, settlements and other back-office functions. Your primary focus is fleet management, freight procurement, negotiation, dispatch and keeping trucks productive.

Compensation

This position will have performance-based compensation tied directly to qualifying freight personally sourced, negotiated, booked and dispatched by the Fleet Manager.

Specific compensation will be discussed with qualified candidates during the interview process.
