Green Family Immigration Law is a U.S.-based virtual immigration law firm seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Legal Assistant to join our team full-time.
This is not an entry-level immigration position. We are specifically looking for someone who already has hands-on experience preparing U.S. immigration cases and USCIS forms and who can eventually independently manage assigned cases after learning our firm's procedures.
Our practice focuses heavily on marriage and family-based immigration, so prior experience with marriage-based adjustment of status is strongly preferred.
Responsibilities:
• Prepare USCIS forms accurately, especially Forms I-130, I-130A, I-485, I-864, I-765, I-131, G-28 and related filings
• Review client questionnaires and information for accuracy and completeness
• Review supporting documents and evidence
• Identify missing, inconsistent, incorrect or insufficient information
• Ask questions when information is missing or unclear rather than guessing
• Follow up with clients for missing documents and information
• Prepare and organize USCIS filing packages
• Draft routine cover letters and client correspondence
• Make attorney-requested corrections accurately
• Send forms and documents to clients for review
• Organize and maintain electronic case files
• Track USCIS notices, RFEs, biometrics, interviews and other case milestones
• Communicate professionally, patiently and kindly with clients
• Maintain accurate case notes and case status information
• Manage assigned cases and follow through on outstanding tasks
Requirements:
• Prior hands-on U.S. immigration law experience
• Family-based immigration experience strongly preferred
• Experience personally preparing USCIS forms
• Excellent attention to detail
• Strong written English
• Strong organizational skills
• Ability to follow detailed instructions
• Comfortable asking questions when information is unclear
• Ability to independently manage multiple cases
• Comfortable learning new technology and systems
• Reliable internet and professional work environment
• Kind, patient and professional with clients
Schedule:
Monday–Friday, 40 hours per week during U.S. Central Time business hours.
