JOB OVERVIEW

Experienced Technical Delivery Manager – Coding, Web, CRM & Automation

Agency Experience Essential

Immediate Start | Remote | 30–40 Hours per Week | $20–30 USD per Hour

We are hiring an experienced Technical Delivery Manager to take ownership of web, CRM, automation and multi-channel digital delivery within a fast-moving professional services business.

This is a senior, hands-on delivery role for someone who understands both how digital projects are managed and how the underlying technology actually works.

You will work directly with clients, developers, automation specialists, designers, media buyers and other specialists to ensure requirements are properly understood, technically scoped, delivered to a high standard and released on time.

You will also play an important role in reducing the founder's involvement in day-to-day project delivery.

This is not a task management role.

It is not a role for a non-technical Project Manager who simply passes requirements back and forth between clients and developers.

You will be expected to understand, interrogate and take ownership of the work being delivered.

Important: Drag-and-Drop Developers Need Not Apply
We want to be very clear about the level of technical experience required for this role.

This is not a role for someone whose development experience is primarily based on drag-and-drop, no-code or low-code platforms.

Experience with platforms such as HubSpot, Salesforce, WordPress, GoHighLevel, Webflow, Zapier, Make and similar systems is nice — and we use several of these types of technologies ourselves.

However, being highly proficient at configuring an existing platform does not, by itself, constitute the software-development background required for this position.

If your technical experience primarily consists of:
- building funnels using visual page builders;
- configuring CRM workflows and pipelines;
- creating automations using visual workflow builders;
- connecting applications using Zapier, Make or similar tools;
- configuring forms, calendars, snapshots or SaaS accounts; or
- installing and configuring themes, plugins and existing integrations,

.... then you are not the technical profile we are looking for for this particular role.

We are looking for somebody who understands software engineering underneath the platforms: application architecture, frontend and backend systems, APIs, databases, data structures, source control, environments, testing, deployment, debugging, security, technical specifications and the Software Development Life Cycle.

You must understand the difference between configuring software and developing software.
Ideally, you will have previously worked professionally as a software engineer, software developer, full-stack developer or in an equivalent application-development role before moving into technical delivery or management.

If you have never participated in building a software application outside a visual/no-code/low-code environment, please do not apply.

Mission of the Role
Own the translation of client and business requirements into technically sound, properly scoped and high-quality delivered work.

Your responsibility is to ensure that:

- requirements are properly understood before work begins;
- the correct technical approach has been identified;
- work is assigned to the right people;
- estimates and timelines are realistic;
- blockers and risks are identified early;
- developers and specialists remain accountable for delivery;
- work is properly QA-tested before release; and
- clients receive professional, high-quality work on time.

The objective is to create a strong operational layer between clients, the technical team and the founder.

1. Technical Delivery Ownership
You will take ownership of delivery across projects involving:

- websites and landing pages;
- CRM systems;
- marketing automation;
- forms and conversion funnels;
- email and SMS workflows;
- APIs and third-party integrations;
- webhooks and data flows;
- tracking and analytics;
- WordPress and other CMS platforms;
- paid advertising infrastructure;
- internal web applications and tools; and
- multi-channel digital campaigns.

You will be responsible for taking an incoming requirement and ensuring it becomes a complete, actionable and technically sensible delivery brief.

This includes identifying missing information before work is assigned.

You should naturally ask questions such as:

- What is the objective?
- What problem are we solving?
- Which website, environment or system is affected?
- Is the work taking place in staging or production?
- What URLs, assets and credentials are required?
- What systems or workflows does this interact with?
- What are the dependencies?
- What are the acceptance criteria?
- How will the work be tested?
- What does "complete" actually mean?

2. Practical Technical Capability – Essential
This is a technically hands-on delivery role.

You do not need to be employed as a full-time software developer, but you must have strong, current practical experience working with web, CRM and automation systems.

You should be comfortable personally:

- working inside WordPress or comparable CMS platforms;
- building or editing websites and landing pages;
- building forms and multi-step conversion funnels;
- configuring CRM fields, pipelines, stages and records;
- building and reviewing workflows, triggers and automated journeys;
- working with email and SMS automation;
- understanding and troubleshooting webhooks and APIs;
- understanding how data moves between systems;
- working with staging and production environments;
- understanding domains, DNS, hosting and deployment basics;
- reviewing technical architecture and implementation diagrams;
- diagnosing website, funnel and workflow problems;
- testing technical solutions before release;
- understanding tracking pixels, conversion events and analytics;
- reviewing responsive behaviour across desktop and mobile;
- identifying obvious accessibility and usability issues; and
- challenging technical estimates where the proposed effort does not appear proportionate to the work.

You are not expected to replace our software engineers.

You are expected to understand their work sufficiently well to manage it intelligently, challenge it where necessary and make informed delivery decisions.

If your recent technical experience consists primarily of managing developers who perform this work for you, rather than personally working with these types of systems, this role is unlikely to be suitable.

3. Agency Delivery Experience – Essential
You must have significant experience working in a digital agency, web agency, marketing agency, technology agency or comparable multi-client delivery environment.

We are not looking for someone whose experience has only been managing one internal product or one internal engineering team.

Agency delivery requires a different discipline.

You must be comfortable managing:

- multiple clients simultaneously;
- competing priorities;
- frequent incoming requests;
- scope changes;
- short-turnaround work alongside larger projects;
- different technical environments;
- client deadlines;
- resource conflicts;
- retained client relationships; and
- difficult conversations when a request cannot be delivered as originally expected.

You should understand that clients often know what they want to achieve, but may not know what needs to be built technically.

Part of your job is to establish the difference.

4. Client Leadership
You will act as a senior delivery contact for clients.

Responsibilities include:

- understanding incoming client requirements;
- identifying incomplete or technically problematic requests;
- leading delivery discussions;
- explaining technical issues in clear non-technical language;
- providing confident progress updates;
- managing expectations;
- challenging poor-quality assets or unsuitable approaches;
- controlling scope;
- negotiating realistic delivery timescales;
- handling difficult conversations professionally; and
- escalating only when senior involvement is genuinely required.

You must be comfortable saying no, not yet, or we recommend a different approach when the evidence supports it.

5. Team Leadership
You will coordinate and manage work across a multidisciplinary remote team including:

- software engineers;
- automation specialists;
- web specialists;
- designers;
- paid media specialists;
- writers and editors;
- client success personnel; and
- external specialists where required.

You will be expected to:

- allocate work effectively;
- establish clear ownership;
- confirm that briefs are understood;
- monitor delivery;
- remove blockers;
- challenge unreasonable estimates;
- identify under-performance;
- maintain delivery momentum;
- enforce agreed deadlines;
- prevent individuals from silently moving committed delivery dates;
- escalate risks early; and
- ensure team members remain accountable for their work.

Being supportive and being accountable are not opposites.

We expect both.

6. Quality Assurance
A task is not complete simply because the person assigned to it says it is complete.

You will help protect the quality of everything Mediatasks delivers.

You should be comfortable personally reviewing work and asking:

- Does it actually work?
- Does it meet the brief?
- Does it look professional?
- Does it work on mobile?
- Are the correct branding and assets being used?
- Are forms and workflows behaving correctly?
- Is data going to the correct place?
- Are emails and SMS messages being triggered correctly?
- Are links and URLs correct?
- Are tracking and analytics functioning?
- Are there obvious accessibility problems?
- Is this genuinely ready to put in front of the client?

We expect a high standard of judgement, not simply checklist completion.

If something technically satisfies a brief but produces a poor client or user experience, we expect you to identify it and challenge it.

7. Delivery Systems & Operations
You will oversee our project delivery system and production pipeline.

Responsibilities include:

- project intake and triage;
- backlog prioritisation;
- sprint and capacity planning;
- resource allocation;
- due-date management;
- dependency management;
- risk identification;
- delivery forecasting;
- QA and release controls;
- delivery documentation; and
- continuous process improvement.

We use a combination of project management systems, Slack, Google Workspace and AI-assisted operational tools.

Routine project administration is increasingly automated.

We therefore want the Technical Delivery Manager spending their time on judgement, decisions, problem solving, prioritisation, quality and leadership rather than simply updating task statuses.

8. Capacity & Commercial Awareness
You must understand the commercial consequences of delivery decisions.

This includes:

- estimating whether the team has capacity to accept new work;
- understanding the impact of inserting urgent work;
- identifying when one priority must move to accommodate another;
- protecting project scope;
- identifying unnecessary complexity;
- preventing avoidable rework;
- protecting delivery margin; and
- identifying when a client's requested solution is disproportionate to the underlying problem.

We want someone who can distinguish between a task requiring 30 minutes, three hours or three days — and who knows when to challenge an estimate.

Required Experience

You should have:

- 6+ years' experience in technical project, delivery, product or digital operations roles;
- strong experience in a digital, web, marketing or technology agency environment;
- hands-on experience with websites, CMS platforms, CRM and automation systems;
- experience managing multiple concurrent client projects;
- experience leading remote multidisciplinary teams;
- strong experience working directly with developers and technical specialists;
- experience being a primary client-facing delivery lead;
- experience with QA and release management;
- strong commercial awareness;
- experience managing capacity, priorities and scope; and
- a proven ability to challenge clients and team members professionally when required.

Previous software engineering, web development, automation, solutions architecture or similarly technical experience is highly desirable.

Technologies & Platforms

You do not need experience with every platform we use.

However, relevant experience may include:

- WordPress or comparable CMS platforms;
- HubSpot, Salesforce, or GoHighLevel or comparable CRM/marketing automation platforms;
- Zapier;
- Make;
- APIs and webhooks;
- AWS or comparable cloud platforms;
- HTML/CSS;
- JavaScript;
- analytics and tracking platforms;
- Jira, Asana, ClickUp, Monday, Trello, Nifty or similar;
- Slack;
- Google Workspace; and
- AI-assisted development and productivity tools.

We care more about your understanding of how systems fit together than whether you happen to know one particular piece of software.

Remote Leadership Requirements

You must have:

- excellent written and spoken English;
- confidence communicating with UK-based clients and senior stakeholders;
- excellent attention to detail;
- strong written documentation skills;
- the ability to work effectively with distributed teams;
- the confidence to make decisions independently; and
- the discipline required to manage multiple active projects remotely.

Ideal Candidate

You are:

- technical expert;
- hands-on;
- highly accountable;
- calm under pressure;
- decisive;
- commercially aware;
- process-driven without being bureaucratic;
- extremely attentive to detail;
- comfortable challenging developers;
- comfortable challenging clients;
- capable of making sensible decisions with incomplete information;
- interested in improving systems rather than merely operating them; and
- someone who takes genuine ownership of delivery.

You should naturally notice when something doesn't look right, doesn't work properly, is taking too long or doesn't make technical sense.

And then do something about it.

Why Join Us

- Senior role with genuine ownership.
- Work across web, CRM, automation, software and digital marketing.
- Exposure to sophisticated professional-services projects.
- Highly varied technical and commercial work.
- AI-enabled operating environment.

Recruitment Process

Please send:

- your CV in PDF format;
- a short note explaining why your technical and agency delivery experience makes you suitable for this role; and
- optionally, a short Loom video introducing yourself.

Important

Shortlisted candidates will complete a practical technical delivery assessment.

This is not primarily a coding test.

It may involve:

- reviewing an incomplete technical brief;
- identifying missing requirements;
- reviewing a website or funnel;
- explaining a CRM or automation workflow;
- diagnosing a delivery problem;
- reviewing a simple technical architecture;
- assessing completed work against QA standards; or
- challenging a technical estimate.

If you are not comfortable being practically assessed on web, CRM and automation delivery, please do not apply.

Applications that do not follow the application instructions will not progress.
