Woodfire is looking for an experienced Shopify designer and developer to redesign and improve our existing Shopify website.
Our store is already built natively in Shopify, and we want to keep the website, product ordering, and checkout centralized within Shopify. However, the current website looks too templated and limited. We need someone who can create a more professional, customized, conversion-focused customer experience while keeping the store easy for our team to manage.
This will initially be a project-based engagement. If the work is excellent, there may be an opportunity for an ongoing monthly technical maintenance retainer or future on-call projects.
Responsibilities
- Audit our existing Shopify store and theme
- Recommend whether to customize the current theme or use a stronger premium theme
- Redesign the homepage to reflect the Woodfire brand
- Make the website feel more customized and less template-based
- Improve product, collection, bundle, and informational pages
- Create reusable Shopify sections and landing-page templates
- Improve navigation and the overall shopping journey
- Optimize the website for mobile devices
- Improve page speed and website performance
- Implement basic technical and on-page SEO
- Review page titles, meta descriptions, headings, image alt text, URLs, and internal links
- Preserve important existing URLs and create redirects when needed
- Review analytics, conversion tracking,
- Test the cart, checkout journey, forms, links, and mobile experience
- Train our team to make simple content, product, and page updates
- Provide documentation and post-launch support
We want the completed store to be visually strong, easy to shop, easy to maintain, and ready for future traffic and ecommerce growth campaigns.
Requirements
- At least three years of professional Shopify experience
- Strong Shopify theme customization and Liquid development experience
- Demonstrated ecommerce design and conversion-rate optimization knowledge
- Experience creating custom Shopify sections and page templates
- Knowledge of mobile optimization, page speed, and basic SEO
- Ability to explain technical recommendations clearly
- Experience training store owners or internal team members

Potential Ongoing Work
After the redesign, we may retain the selected specialist for monthly technical maintenance or use them for on-call Shopify support. This could include theme fixes, app troubleshooting, performance checks, new landing pages, and technical updates.
Ongoing marketing, content production, Amazon management, and ecommerce growth will be handled under a separate future role.
