ELECTRICAL ESTIMATOR – U.S. PROJECTS

Granite State Business Holdings (GSBH) is looking for experienced ELECTRICAL ESTIMATORS to support our growing Estimating & Preconstruction team.

We support multiple U.S.-based electrical and construction companies and are looking for estimators who can confidently review electrical drawings and specifications, perform detailed quantity takeoffs, develop cost estimates, and help prepare accurate and competitive bids.

Our priority is finding candidates with strong ELECTRICAL ESTIMATING experience who understand not only how to perform takeoffs, but also how electrical systems are installed, priced, and estimated.

*** EXPERIENCE ESTIMATING U.S.-BASED ELECTRICAL CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS IS HIGHLY PREFERRED. ***

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

Review electrical drawings, specifications, addenda, and bid documents
Perform detailed and accurate electrical quantity takeoffs
Prepare electrical cost estimates and bid worksheets
Estimate lighting, power, distribution, feeders, branch circuits, devices, and electrical equipment
Estimate fire alarm and other electrical systems when within your experience
Determine material quantities and labor requirements
Review panel schedules, one-line diagrams, equipment schedules, and electrical details
Identify missing scope, drawing discrepancies, constructability concerns, and potential estimating risks
Review addenda and incorporate revisions into estimates
Identify missing or unclear information that may require an RFI
Gather and compare vendor, supplier, and subcontractor pricing
Review quotations for pricing and scope completeness
Research material and equipment pricing when needed
Help identify potential value-engineering and cost-saving opportunities
Clearly document estimate assumptions, inclusions, exclusions, and clarifications
Maintain organized takeoffs, quotes, estimates, and project files
Support additional estimating and preconstruction tasks as needed

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

We are looking for someone who can do MORE THAN JUST COUNT MATERIALS.

A strong candidate should understand electrical construction well enough to take ownership of an estimating assignment and work independently with minimal supervision.

You should be able to:

Review plans and specifications and understand the electrical scope
Determine what needs to be included in the estimate
Perform accurate and organized electrical takeoffs
Understand how electrical systems will actually be installed
Determine appropriate materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor needs
Understand the relationship between quantities and installation labor
Identify missing information, discrepancies, and unclear requirements
Ask the right questions when drawings or specifications are incomplete
Research pricing and compare supplier quotations
Identify reasonable material or installation alternatives when appropriate
Produce a clear and organized estimate that is ready for final review
Manage deadlines and communicate progress or concerns proactively

We are especially interested in estimators who are ACCURATE, DEPENDABLE, RESOURCEFUL, and capable of working independently while communicating well with the rest of the team.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

At least 2 years of electrical estimating experience
Experience performing electrical quantity takeoffs from construction drawings and specifications
Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, panel schedules, one-line diagrams, and construction documents
Strong understanding of electrical systems, materials, equipment, and installation methods
Understanding of labor requirements associated with electrical installations
Ability to independently develop estimates from plans and specifications
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
Experience with construction takeoff or estimating software
Good written and spoken English
Ability to manage deadlines and multiple estimating assignments
Reliable and comfortable working independently in a remote environment

HIGHLY PREFERRED

Experience estimating U.S.-BASED ELECTRICAL PROJECTS
Familiarity with U.S. electrical construction practices and NEC requirements
Familiarity with NECA labor units or similar electrical labor standards
Experience working with U.S. electrical contractors or general contractors
Experience estimating commercial, industrial, institutional, multifamily, or municipal projects
Experience with Bluebeam, PlanSwift, Accubid, ConEst, or similar estimating software
Experience pricing lighting fixtures, panels, switchgear, transformers, generators, and other electrical equipment
Experience gathering and comparing U.S. vendor and supplier quotations
Experience identifying value-engineering opportunities or acceptable material/equipment alternatives
Broader general construction estimating experience is a plus

You will not necessarily be expected to estimate every system listed above. Assignments will be matched as much as possible with your experience and capabilities.
