Role Overview
The Ecommerce Inventory & Merchandising Specialist (Interim) is responsible for maintaining business continuity across eCommerce operations during a transitional period.
This role focuses on day-to-day inventory management, product enrichment, reporting, and onsite merchandising execution to ensure seamless trading performance across Shopify. Working closely with Ecommerce, Planning, Marketing, Operations, and Finance teams, this position ensures stock accuracy, product data integrity, reporting visibility, and strong site execution.
The role requires hands-on Shopify and SAP experience, strong analytical capability, and a proactive approach to managing stock flow, reporting, and site merchandising.
Role Responsibilities & KPIs
RESPONSIBILITY 1 – Inventory Management
The Ecommerce Inventory & Merchandising Specialist will oversee inventory integrity and stock performance across the Shopify store, ensuring accurate stock levels, visibility, and reporting.
Tasks include (but are not limited to):
- Managing stock on hand levels across Shopify and SAP
- Monitoring sell-through, weeks of cover, and stock health
- Identifying and escalating out-of-stock risks and overstock risks
- Producing and maintaining out-of-stock reports
- Producing stock on hand and stock health reports
- Supporting replenishment and back-in-stock processes
- Ensuring accurate stock sync between SAP and Shopify
- Supporting demand planning insights where required
Work standard / Expectation / KPI:
- Daily stock monitoring and reconciliation
- Out-of-stock report updated and distributed weekly
- 100% stock accuracy between Shopify and SAP
- OOS risks identified and escalated proactively
- Reporting delivered on time and with 99%+ accuracy
RESPONSIBILITY 2 – Product Enrichment & Data Integrity
This role is responsible for maintaining high-quality product information and ensuring best-practice PDP execution.
Tasks include (but are not limited to):
- Creating and maintaining product listings in Shopify
- Managing product descriptions, imagery, tags, and specifications
- Ensuring product categorisation and collection rules are accurate
- Managing metafields and Shopify apps relevant to product display
- Troubleshooting product or data discrepancies
- Collaborating with Creative and Marketing teams on content updates
- Supporting product launches and promotional setups
Work standard / Expectation / KPI:
- All new products uploaded accurately prior to launch deadlines
- 100% PDP compliance with brand guidelines
- Zero broken links or incorrect product data
- Product updates completed within agreed timeframes
RESPONSIBILITY 3 – Reporting & Analytics
The Ecommerce Inventory & Merchandising Specialist will generate and maintain key reports across inventory and merchandising to ensure visibility and informed decision-making.
Tasks include (but are not limited to):
- Building and maintaining inventory and merchandising reports
- Reporting on out-of-stock, stock on hand, and aged inventory
- Creating automated and ongoing Shopify/SAP reports
- Supporting weekly and monthly trading reports
- Identifying risks and opportunities through data analysis
- Providing insights to Ecommerce and Planning teams

- Weekly reporting delivered on schedule
- Clear visibility across stock health and inventory risks
- Reports structured for ease of use and scalability
- Insights provided proactively to support trading decisions
RESPONSIBILITY 4 – Content Planning & Site Merchandising
This role supports the execution of onsite merchandising and content planning to ensure strong trading performance.
Tasks include (but are not limited to):
- Updating homepage and collection merchandising
- Managing collection sort rules and merchandising logic
- Supporting promotional setups and site campaigns
- Coordinating content updates aligned to marketing calendar
- Ensuring accurate navigation, filtering, and tagging
- Supporting sale events and seasonal transitions

- All campaign content executed on time
- Site reflects current trading priorities at all times
- Merchandising supports conversion and sell-through
- Zero broken collections or mis-tagged products

Role Requirements, Structure, Relationships, Support
Essential experience:
- Strong hands-on experience with Shopify
- SAP experience (inventory management focus)
- Experience in inventory reporting and stock analysis
- Knowledge of Shopify apps
- Experience in product enrichment and merchandising
- Advanced Excel or reporting capability
- High attention to detail
Desirable experience:
- Experience in fashion, apparel, or lifestyle brands
- Experience managing stock across multiple channels
- Exposure to automated reporting or BI tools
- Experience supporting promotional and campaign execution
