Full-Time Remote | Long-Term Opportunity | Australian E-Commerce Brand
We are an Australian fashion/e-commerce business looking for an experienced E-Commerce Technical & Digital Performance Specialist to join us full-time remotely.
This is NOT a social media manager role.
We are not looking for someone to simply create Instagram posts, write captions or maintain a content calendar.
We are looking for someone who understands the technical backend of an e-commerce business and can take ownership of our digital ecosystem — Shopify, Google, Meta, tracking, analytics, SEO, advertising infrastructure and performance.
Initially, this will be a hands-on audit, repair and optimisation project. Once the foundations are working correctly, the role will evolve into ongoing digital growth and campaign management.
THE INITIAL PROJECT
Your first responsibility will be to thoroughly review our existing digital setup.
We want you to find what is working, what isn't working, what has been configured incorrectly, what is missing and what can be improved.
This includes reviewing and working directly with:
Shopify — store configuration, apps, integrations, technical issues, site structure and performance
Google Analytics 4 (GA4) — tracking, events, conversions, attribution and reporting
Google Tag Manager
Google Search Console
Google Merchant Center and product feeds
Google Ads — account structure, conversion tracking, audiences and campaign infrastructure
Meta Business Suite / Business Manager
Meta Ads Manager
Meta Pixel and Conversion API
Facebook
Shopify/Meta/Instagram catalogue and commerce integrations
Domain verification and associated Meta assets
SEO — technical SEO, on-page SEO, indexing, metadata, site structure, schema and organic search opportunities
Website speed and technical performance
Conversion tracking and attribution
E-commerce analytics and reporting
We don't just want reports telling us there is a problem. We want someone capable of actually fixing the problems.
THEN WE WANT TO GROW
Once the digital foundations are correct, your role will progressively move into performance and growth.
You should be comfortable looking at real business data and understanding what it means.
That includes metrics such as:
Traffic | Conversion Rate | ROAS | CAC | CPA | CTR | CPC | AOV | Revenue | Customer Acquisition | Returning Customers | Funnel Performance | Organic Traffic | Search Rankings
More importantly, you need to understand what levers to pull when those numbers aren't where they should be.
We want someone who can investigate why performance is changing and then take action.
That could mean improving SEO, restructuring a campaign, correcting tracking, improving a landing page, changing audiences, fixing a product feed, improving site structure or identifying another problem within the customer journey.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
You should have genuine hands-on experience with several of the following:
Shopify / GA4 / Google Tag Manager / Search Console / Merchant Center / Google Ads / Meta Business Manager / Meta Ads Manager / Meta Pixel / Conversion API / Instagram integration / Technical SEO / E-commerce Analytics / CRO
You don't necessarily need to be the world's leading expert in every platform.
But you do need to understand how these systems connect and work together.
We are looking for someone who:
Is technically strong and enjoys solving problems
Can work independently and take ownership
Understands e-commerce and digital performance
Is highly analytical
Can interpret data rather than simply produce reports
Can identify problems and recommend solutions
Is comfortable implementing fixes personally
Can clearly explain what they have found and why it matters
Documents changes and maintains an organised digital environment
Is interested in building something over time rather than completing isolated freelance tasks
WHAT THIS ROLE IS NOT
This is not primarily:
Social media management, Graphic design, Influencer management, Posting content to Instagram, Writing captions, General virtual assistant work
Those functions may interact with your role, but they are not why we are hiring you.
We are hiring you to understand, manage and improve the technical and performance infrastructure behind our e-commerce business.
THE OPPORTUNITY
We are initially looking at approximately a 6-month full-time engagement, with the potential for this to become a permanent long-term position.
The first stage will focus heavily on auditing, repairing and improving our existing infrastructure.
From there, we want the successful person to become increasingly involved in SEO, Google Ads, Meta advertising, website optimisation, analytics, conversion optimisation and overall e-commerce growth.
You will work directly with the business owners and will have significant ownership over the project.
We care much more about capability, initiative and results than qualifications.
HOW TO APPLY
Please do not send us a generic application.
Start your application by telling us about yourself and your experience.
Then answer the following:
1. Tell us about a Shopify store where you personally worked on the technical/performance setup. What did you actually do?
2. What would you check first if Shopify showed 100 orders but GA4 only reported 65 purchases?
3. What are the first things you would audit inside Meta Business Manager for an established e-commerce brand?
4. Explain the difference between Meta Pixel tracking and Conversion API in simple terms.
5. What would you investigate if organic Google traffic had been declining for six months?
6. What are the five most important e-commerce metrics you would want to see every week, and why?
7. Which of these platforms would you consider yourself genuinely advanced in?
Shopify / GA4 / GTM / Search Console / Merchant Center / Google Ads / Meta Business Manager / Meta Ads / Technical SEO / CRO
8. What is your expected monthly salary for a full-time position?
9. What country and city are you based in?
10. Please provide examples of e-commerce businesses you have previously worked with and explain your personal involvement.
We are looking for someone who wants to take ownership of the digital engine of the business, understand the numbers, fix the problems and help us grow it.
