JOB OVERVIEW

E-Commerce Growth & Merchandising Strategist – Part-Time to Full-Time

Esszett Luxury is a German e-commerce company specializing in furniture, lighting, home accessories, plants and lifestyle products.

We are currently building our own long-term in-house e-commerce and marketing team and are looking for an experienced E-Commerce Growth & Merchandising Strategist.

This is a strategic and commercially focused role.

We are not looking for someone who only manages one marketing channel.

We are looking for someone who understands the complete e-commerce business, studies our full product catalogue, develops marketing strategies and gives clear direction to our internal specialists.

Your goal will be to help us build a structured, data-driven and profitable e-commerce marketing system.

Your Main Responsibility

You will be responsible for understanding our complete e-commerce business and translating this knowledge into clear growth initiatives.

You should continuously analyze:

* Our complete product catalogue
* Brands
* Product categories
* Product prices
* Product margins
* Bestsellers
* Slow-moving products
* New products
* Seasonal products
* Product availability
* Conversion rates
* Average order values
* Google Ads performance
* Customer behavior
* Competitors
* Market trends

You should know which products have the highest potential and determine how they should be presented, marketed and prioritized.

You Must Know Our Product Catalogue

A very important part of this position is becoming deeply familiar with our products.

We do not want a strategist who only looks at dashboards.

You should actively study our catalogue and understand:

* Which brands are important to us
* Which categories have growth potential
* Which products have strong margins
* Which products sell well organically
* Which products perform well through advertising
* Which products should receive more visibility
* Which products should be bundled or cross-sold
* Which products are suitable for seasonal campaigns
* Which products need better product pages
* Which products should potentially be excluded from advertising

Over time, we expect you to develop a very strong understanding of the Esszett catalogue and use this knowledge when making marketing decisions.

Marketing Strategy

You will create and continuously improve our overall e-commerce marketing strategy.

This includes:

* Monthly marketing planning
* Quarterly growth planning
* Annual marketing calendar
* Seasonal campaigns
* Promotional campaigns
* Product launches
* Category campaigns
* Brand campaigns
* Funnel planning
* Merchandising strategy
* Landing-page strategy
* Upselling and cross-selling concepts
* Campaign analysis
* Competitor analysis
* Growth opportunities
* Testing priorities

We want to move away from simply running advertising campaigns and instead build a structured marketing system.

Seasonal & Promotional Planning

You should plan campaigns well in advance.

Examples include:

* Spring
* Easter
* Mother’s Day
* Summer
* Outdoor and garden season
* Autumn
* Lighting season
* Black Week
* Christmas
* New Year
* Other commercially relevant periods

For every major campaign, you should define:

* Which products and categories should be promoted
* Which products have sufficient margin
* Which offer or promotion makes commercial sense
* Which landing pages are required
* Which product pages need improvement
* Which creatives are required
* Which advertising campaigns should be created
* Which upsells and cross-sells should be used
* Which KPIs will define success

CRO & Shopify Strategy

You will work closely with our Shopify CRO & UX Specialist.

You are not expected to personally code every Shopify change.

However, you should actively identify what needs to be improved and give the CRO Specialist clear priorities and tasks.

For example:

You analyze one of our important product categories and determine that the product pages need:

* A stronger USP section
* Better delivery information
* More prominent trust elements
* Improved mobile layout
* Product bundles
* Better cross-selling
* A sticky Add-to-Cart button
* Better product comparison
* Improved product information
* Better image hierarchy
* Improved navigation
* A dedicated landing page

You should then create a clear briefing for our CRO Specialist explaining:

* What should be changed
* Why it should be changed
* Which products or pages are affected
* What the expected impact is
* How success should be measured

The Shopify CRO & UX Specialist will then design and technically implement the changes in Shopify.

You will review the results together and d ---------- what should be tested or improved next.

Example Workflow

You identify that one of our lighting brands has strong margins and good demand but weak conversion.

You analyze the complete customer journey.

You then create clear tasks:

Product Listing Team

* Improve missing product information
* Update product attributes
* Improve category structure

Creative Designer

* Create new USP graphics
* Produce new campaign assets
* Create comparison or benefit graphics

Shopify CRO Specialist

* Redesign the product-page information hierarchy
* Improve mobile Add-to-Cart experience
* Implement trust elements
* Build a cross-selling section
* Create a dedicated collection landing page

Google Ads & Shopping Specialist

* Create a dedicated campaign structure
* Adjust product segmentation
* Increase budget for profitable products
* Exclude low-margin or poor-performing products

You coordinate the overall strategy and measure whether the changes improve profitable revenue.

Funnel & Customer Journey Strategy

You should understand the complete customer journey:

Traffic → Landing Page → Collection → Product Page → Cart → Checkout → Purchase → Repeat Purchase

You should identify friction throughout this journey and continuously develop improvement ideas.

You should understand:

* Paid traffic funnels
* Product-page funnels
* Collection funnels
* Landing pages
* Cart optimization
* Upselling
* Cross-selling
* Bundles
* Retargeting
* Customer retention
* Average order value optimization

Internal Team

You will work closely with:

E-Commerce Team Lead

Responsible for internal coordination and task management.

Product Listing Team

Responsible for product information, listings, tags, categories and product data.

Creative Designer

Responsible for product images, USP graphics, banners and advertising creatives.

Google Ads & Shopping Specialist

Responsible for Google Ads, Shopping, Performance Max, Merchant Center and product feeds.

Shopify CRO & UX Specialist

Responsible for Shopify implementation, CRO, UX, product pages, landing pages and technical store improvements.

Your role is to connect these specialists through a clear commercial and marketing strategy.

Important Difference Between Your Role and Our Team Lead

Our E-Commerce Team Lead manages the internal team and coordinates operational tasks.

Your responsibility is the marketing and growth strategy.

You determine what should be prioritized from a commercial and marketing perspective.

The Team Lead helps ensure that the work is organized and completed.

What We Are Looking For

You should ideally have experience with:

* E-commerce growth strategy
* E-commerce merchandising
* Shopify
* Large product catalogues
* Conversion Rate Optimization
* Customer journey optimization
* Funnel strategy
* Google Ads
* Paid advertising
* Product profitability
* Campaign planning
* Seasonal marketing
* Promotional strategy
* Landing pages
* Product-page optimization
* Upselling
* Cross-selling
* A/B testing
* Analytics

Experience with furniture, lighting, home & living, interior or lifestyle e-commerce would be a major advantage.

Commercial Thinking Is Essential

We are not looking for someone who only focuses on revenue.

You should understand:

* Product margins
* Contribution margin
* Advertising costs
* CAC
* ROAS
* Conversion rate
* Average order value
* Profitability
* Inventory
* Repeat purchases

Your decisions should always answer the question:

How can Esszett generate more profitable revenue?

German / European Market

Experience with German or European e-commerce businesses is highly preferred.

Experience with the DACH market — Germany, Austria and Switzerland — would be a major advantage.

Working Model

We would like to start this position as part-time.

Initially:

Approximately 10–20 hours per week

If the cooperation is successful, your strategies deliver good results and the workload increases, we are very open to developing this into a full-time long-term position.

Our goal is to find someone who wants to grow together with Esszett and eventually take significant responsibility for our e-commerce growth strategy.

* Remote
* Monday to Friday
* Long-term cooperation
* Initially part-time
* Opportunity to grow into a full-time position

We look forward to hearing from you.
