We are seeking an experienced, highly organized, and detail-oriented Divorce & Family Law Paralegal to provide remote legal and administrative support. The ideal candidate must have previous experience working directly with a divorce attorney, including hands-on experience drafting legal documents, managing divorce cases, coordinating client communications, and supporting the litigation process. Experience in Trusts & Estates is an additional plus, but not required. This is not an entry-level administrative position. We need someone who understands divorce and family law procedures, can work independently, and is comfortable preparing legal documentation for attorney review.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Divorce & Family Law Document Preparation
* Draft divorce petitions, motions, pleadings, affidavits, and other family law documents under attorney supervision.
* Prepare discovery requests, responses, financial affidavits, and supporting documentation.
* Assist with marital settlement agreements, parenting plans, and related legal documents.
* Organize and prepare court filings, exhibits, and case materials.
* Proofread legal documents for accuracy, completeness, and proper formatting.
2. Case Management & Attorney Support
* Manage divorce and family law case files, deadlines, and documentation.
* Track court dates, hearings, mediation appointments, and important case milestones.
* Assist with discovery, document collection, and case preparation.
* Coordinate with attorneys, clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel as appropriate.
* Maintain accurate case notes and records in legal case management systems.
3. Client Communication & Administrative Support
* Communicate professionally and compassionately with clients navigating divorce and family law matters.
* Follow up with clients regarding required documentation and outstanding information.
* Assist with scheduling, correspondence, and attorney calendar management.
* Keep clients informed of administrative next steps as directed by the attorney.
* Maintain strict confidentiality and professionalism when handling sensitive legal and personal information.
Required Qualifications:
* Prior experience working directly for a divorce or family law attorney — required.
* Demonstrated experience drafting divorce-related legal documents — required.
* Strong familiarity with divorce proceedings, family law terminology, and legal documentation.
* Excellent written and spoken English.
* Strong legal writing, proofreading, and document preparation skills.
* Excellent organization, time management, and attention to detail.
* Ability to independently manage assignments and follow through on deadlines.
* Strong client communication skills, professionalism, and emotional intelligence.
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office, PDF tools, and legal case management software.
* Ability to handle confidential and sensitive client information.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience supporting a Florida divorce or family law attorney.
* Familiarity with Florida family law forms, court procedures, and electronic filing requirements.
* Experience with contested and uncontested divorces.
* Familiarity with child custody/time-sharing, child support, alimony, and equitable distribution matters.
* Experience in Trusts & Estates, including estate planning, wills, trusts, or probate administration — a plus, not required.
* Experience with legal practice management platforms such as Clio, MyCase, or similar systems.
Ideal Candidate:
We are looking for someone who is:
* Experienced: Already understands divorce law workflows and legal documentation.
* Independent: Can draft documents and manage assignments without constant supervision.
* Detail-Oriented: Produces accurate, organized, and professional legal work.
* Proactive: Anticipates attorney needs and follows up on outstanding tasks.
* An Excellent Communicator: Professional, articulate, and compassionate with clients.
* Reliable: Takes ownership of responsibilities and consistently meets deadlines.
What Success Looks Like:
The successful VA will become a dependable extension of the team.
They will be able to prepare divorce-related legal documents for attorney review, manage case details, communicate effectively with clients, and keep legal matters moving forward with minimal oversight.
The priority is finding an experienced divorce paralegal who can contribute immediately, produce quality legal work, and meaningfully reduce the attorney's administrative and case-management workload.
Experience with Trusts & Estates would provide additional value and versatility to the firm, but divorce and family law experience remains the primary hiring requirement.
