I own an established Australian ecommerce business that manufactures and ships products to customers across Australia, New Zealand, the UK, and the USA. We've been operating for 16 years and have over 50,000 customers.
I'm looking for a skilled Digital Marketing Specialist to take full ownership of our online marketing. This is not a VA role where you'll be doing a bit of everything. This is a dedicated marketing position where you'll own our Google Ads, our Meta advertising, and our digital asset creation.
This is a long-term role with a real business. I'm not looking for someone for a project — I'm looking for someone who wants to grow with us. If you perform well, there is a genuine opportunity to take on more responsibility, manage additional clients, and increase your earnings significantly over time.
Important: Read This Before Applying
I need to be direct about a few things.
Be honest about your skills. If you're excellent at Google Ads but have limited Meta experience, tell me that. If your design skills are stronger than your analytics, say so. I can work with someone who has gaps — I cannot work with someone who pretends they don't.
I have full visibility across every platform. I can see what's been done, what's been changed, and what results came from it. I don't say this to be intimidating — I say it so we start this relationship with complete transparency. Honesty is the most important quality I'm looking for.
How We'll Work Together
Even though you'll be working remotely, you'll be part of our team, not just a freelancer in the background. Here's how we'll stay connected:
You must be contactable at all times during your agreed work hours via Slack, WhatsApp, or similar. If I message you, I expect a response within minutes, not hours.
Weekly Zoo
I will share our business with you through video walkthroughs of our warehouse, products, and operations so you understand what we make, how we ship, and who our customers are. You need to know this business inside out, even from a distance.
Screen sharing and virtual training sessions as needed so we can collaborate on campaigns and strategy in real time.
Monthly reporting — you present your results, what worked, what didn't, and what you want to try next.
This isn't a set-and-forget arrangement. You'll feel like part of the team because you will be part of the team.
What You'll Be Doing
Google Ads (Core Focus):
Manage and optimise Google Ads campaigns (Search, Shopping, Performance Max)
Monitor spend, adjust bids, test ad copy, and improve ROAS
Analyse campaign data and make decisions based on real numbers
Provide clear reporting with actionable recommendations
Meta Advertising
Create, manage, and
Audience building, retargeting, creative testing, and budget management
Coordinate organic social media content alongside paid campaigns
Digital Asset Creation:
Create social media graphics, ad creatives, banners, and promotional images
Produce visual content for campaigns and promotions
Comfortable with Canva and/or Adobe tools
AI Tools:
I use Claude (by Anthropic) extensively to analyse data, generate content ideas, and solve business problems. I'm looking for someone who either already uses AI tools like Claude, ChatGPT, or similar in their workflow — or is genuinely excited to learn. If you're already using AI to improve your marketing work, tell me about it in your application. This is a genuine advantage.
Reporting:
Monthly report covering traffic, conversions, ad performance, and social growth
Identify what's working, what's not, and what to try next
Be prepared to present and discuss your results on our weekly Zoom call
What I'm Looking For
MUST HAVE:
At least 2 years of hands-on experience managing Google Ads campaigns with real, measurable results
Experience running Meta
Ability to create digital assets — graphics, ad creatives, social media content
Strong written AND spoken English — you'll be on weekly video calls with us and creating ad copy for an Australian audience
Self-motivated and organised — you manage your own day without being told what to do
Honest and transparent — if you don't know something, say so. If something isn't working, tell me before I find out myself
Reliable internet connection, webcam, and a quiet workspace for video calls
Available Monday to Thursday, with hours overlapping Australian business hours (AEST)
Contactable during work hours — responsive on messaging platforms
NICE TO HAVE:
Experience with BigCommerce or Shopify
Understanding of SEO and Google Search Console
Experience using AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT, etc.) for marketing or data analysis
Experience with Google Analytics 4
Experience working with ecommerce or physical product businesses
Experience working with Australian businesses
Personal interest in backyard chickens, poultry keeping, or small-scale farming — our customers are passionate about their flocks, and understanding that world makes a real difference to the quality of content and campaigns you'll produce
How to Apply
Do NOT send me a generic application. I will ignore it.
Answer these five questions:
Show me a Google Ads campaign you managed. What was the business, what did you do, and what were the results? Include real numbers. If you also have Meta Ads results to share, include those too.
If I gave you access to an ecommerce store with 50,000 customers, declining traffic, and a Google Ads account that needs work — what would you do in your first 30 days? Be specific.
What digital assets have you created? Send me examples — ad creatives, social media graphics, banners, anything. A portfolio link or screenshots are fine.
Be honest: what are you strongest at, and where are your gaps? I'd rather know now than find out later.
Do you have any personal experience with backyard chickens, poultry, or small-scale farming? This isn't a dealbreaker, but it's a genuine advantage for this role.
If you answer these five questions well and honestly, you'll get a video interview. If you send me a copy-paste application, you won't hear back.
This is a genuine long-term opportunity with a real business that's been running for 16 years. I'm looking for someone who wants to be part of building something — not just doing tasks.
