Job Brief
We are seeking a detail-oriented Design & Construct (D&C) Estimator to support a well-established commercial electrical contracting business. The successful candidate will work closely with the Estimating & Design Team in Australia to assist in preparing accurate cost estimates, gathering project documentation, and supporting the end-to-end quoting process. This role is ideal for someone with strong analytical skills, proven experience in D&C electrical estimating and the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Must-Haves (Essential)
Minimum 3+ years’ experience in electrical D&C estimating on commercial projects
Proficiency in Groundplan for take-offs and measurements
Strong communication skills and confidence using Microsoft Teams (meetings, screen sharing, and collaboration in English)
Key Responsibilities
Review and interpret project briefs, PPRs (Project Progress Reports), drawings, and specifications to understand design intent and scope
Perform quantity take-offs and measurements using Groundplan.
Request, compare and collate supplier and subcontractor quotations as required
Assist in preparing bill of quantities and cost estimates for commercial electrical D&C projects
Liaise with the Estimating & Design Team in Australia to ensure accuracy and completeness of all estimates and drawings.
Actively participate in design coordination meetings, contributing to the production of accurate and well-documented Groundplan drawings aligned with design briefs, client requests, and best practices
Support preparation of final tender documentation and submission packs
Provide administrative, document control, and quality-checking support during the pre-construction phase
Requirements
3+ years’ experience in electrical contracting estimating with a focus on Design & Construct delivery.
Strong understanding of Australian Standards (AS:3000) & construction project processes & documentation.
Proficient with Groundplan and Microsoft Excel (Advanced)
Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and analytical skills
Strong written and verbal English communication
Strong organisational and time-management skills
Desirable
Experience using SimPro (highly desirable)
Previous experience working on Australian construction or commercial projects
Familiarity with Australian building codes, commercial tendering processes, and D&C documentation standards
Experience supporting remote, Australia-based teams.
Qualification or certification in Electrical, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying or Engineering
Software Proficiency
Groundplan – Essential for take-offs and drawing interpretation
Microsoft 365 Suite – Teams (Essential), OneDrive, Planner, Excel (Advanced), Word (Advanced)
Estimating/take-off tools such as Groundplan or similar
OneDrive (Teams, Planner, etc)

Education
Degree or diploma in Construction Management, Electrical Trade or Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or related field preferred.
