Descript Video Editor

Trendstop fashion trend forecasting agency is looking for a Descript Video Editor to join our team and help us turn existing recordings into clear, polished and engaging video content.

Our video content includes online workshops and website demos, website training videos and social reels. This is a hands-on editing role with Descript at the centre of the workflow, including using its AI and script-based editing tools to make the production process faster and more efficient.

What You’ll Be Doing

You’ll take existing recordings and turn them into polished, ready-to-publish videos. Your work will include:
- Using Descript’s AI tools to clean up and optimise recordings, including improving audio and removing filler words, pauses and other unwanted content.
- Editing videos using Descript’s script/transcript editor, particularly to turn longer recordings into shorter, more focused versions.
- Reviewing recordings and using good editorial judgement to d ---------- what can be removed while retaining the important information and natural flow.
- Tightening pacing and removing mistakes, repetition, unnecessary explanations and technical interruptions.
- Adding and editing overlay slides, screenshots, graphics and other supporting visuals.
- Selecting and inserting appropriate B-roll clips to make videos more engaging and visually varied.
- Creating, correcting and formatting subtitles so they are accurate, readable and consistent.
- Editing screen recordings, presenter footage and voiceovers.
- Reformatting existing content to create short-form social reels.
- Applying consistent branding, layouts and visual styles across our videos.
- Quality-checking finished videos for editing, audio, subtitles and visual accuracy.
- Exporting videos in the correct resolution, aspect ratio, quality and file format for their intended use, including videos for WordPress website pages and social platforms.
- Keeping Descript projects, source recordings and supporting assets organised.
- Making revisions based on feedback.

What We’re Looking For

- You should be confident and experienced with Descript and comfortable using it as your primary video editing platform.
We’re looking for someone with:
- Strong practical experience editing video in Descript.
- Good knowledge of Descript’s AI-powered editing and audio tools.
- Experience using script/transcript-based editing to efficiently shorten and restructure recordings.
- The ability to take a long recording and turn it into something shorter, clearer and more engaging.
- Experience working with screen recordings, demonstrations, webinars, workshops or training content.
- Experience adding slides, overlays, screenshots, graphics and B-roll.
- Good subtitle editing and formatting skills.
- Experience creating short-form and vertical video content.
- A good understanding of video formats, aspect ratios, resolution, compression and export settings.
- An understanding of preparing and optimising video for web use, including WordPress pages.
- Strong attention to detail and good editorial judgement.
- The ability to work independently and efficiently across multiple videos.

About You

- You don’t just know how to make cuts – you understand why and where to make them.
- You can look at a long workshop or training recording, quickly understand what matters and use Descript to turn it into a much tighter finished video without losing the key information.
- You’re comfortable using AI to speed up the editing process, but you also know where human judgement is required. You notice awkward cuts, inaccurate subtitles, unnecessary pauses, inconsistent audio and sections where an overlay or B-roll would make the content easier to understand.
- You’re also comfortable with the technical side of delivery and can make sure the finished video is correctly formatted and optimised for wherever it will be published.

You’ll primarily be working on:
- Online workshops & website demos · Website training videos · Social reels
- The source material will often already exist, so a significant part of the role is about editing, improving, shortening and repurposing recordings rather than producing videos from scratch.
