About the Role:
Hello! I run a Dead by Daylight YouTube channel and need a reliable editor to turn my raw gameplay recordings into finished long-form videos - 1 per week, ongoing. The editing itself is very simple (cuts, no effects, full tutorial provided).
NOTE: You must play Dead By Daylight or have sufficient knowledge about the game.
Non-negotiable. Good cuts depend on understanding what's on screen. Someone who doesn't know DBD will trim the wrong things and leave in the boring ones.
1,000+ hours strongly preferred, or clearly strong existing knowledge of the game.
You should instantly recognize the difference between a
Example:
(This video has only one game in it, but serves as an example of the general editing style and pacing)
What You'll Do:
- For each video you'll receive two gameplay recordings (two matches).
- Cut out dead spots, filler, and anything that isn't interesting gameplay, commentary, or a notable event
- Keep the gameplay and commentary front and center. It's the entire point of the channel
- Combine the two matches into one clean finished video
- Level the audio and export to spec (requirements below)
- No motion graphics or effects needed. A tutorial walks through the exact workflow and export settings.
Specs (every video):
- Audio: a two-track recording is provided (mic + game audio). Level the game audio to -18 to -20 dB and the mic to -1 to -4 dB
- Export: high quality, using the render settings from the tutorial presentation matters a lot on this channel and the video may be compressed on YouTube if exported improperly
- Files may be large. Keep roughly 20 GB free for comfortable editing and rendering, and you'll need a solid connection to download raw footage and upload finished files
Workflow & Logistics:
- Volume: 1 video/week, ongoing - you will receive 4+ days before due date
- You receive: 2 raw recordings per video (each 10–20 min), sent via
- Delivery: upload finished videos to Google Drive (or equivalent)
- Communication: everything runs through
- Good computer/laptop recommended to comfortably edit the footage.
Compensation
- $9–$12 USD per video, paid bi-weekly via Wise.
- Paid trial: first 1–2 videos at the base rate as a fit-check (paid, never free)
- Ongoing / long-term: I need one reliable person, not a rotating cast
How to Apply:
Because game knowledge is the whole point, start your reply by naming your most-played killer or survivor, your rough hours in DBD, and your favourite perk. That tells me two things: that you read this, and that you actually play.
Then include:
- A link to your portfolio, or a few videos you've edited (Dead By Daylight videos preferred, if you have edited any)
- What software you edit in
- Your timezone, daily availability, and confirmation your internet handles large up/downloads
- Confirmation you can use
No main + hours + perk = skipped. No work sample = skipped.
