About Us
Ryo Jaeger Productions (RJP) is a Hawaiʻi-based video production company specializing in commercial, branded, corporate, real estate, hospitality, and social media content.
We work with a diverse range of clients, from small businesses to established brands, producing everything from cinematic brand films and interviews to commercial campaigns and short-form social media reels. We're currently a small team of two: myself, Ryo, the owner and lead videographer based in Honolulu, and our video editor based in Manila.
As our client base and production volume continue to grow, we're looking to bring on a dedicated DaVinci Resolve Colorist to help elevate the overall visual quality of our productions.
The Role
We're looking for someone with a strong eye for color, consistency, and image quality. Our current bottleneck is color grading. While our editing workflow is established, we want to improve the finishing quality of our videos, particularly when it comes to:
Creating crisp, clean, professional-looking images without excessive softness, haze, or washed-out colors.
Maintaining consistent color temperatures and skin tones across interviews, real estate videos, and commercial projects.
Properly balancing exposure, contrast, saturation, and white balance.
Developing cinematic looks that complement each project's creative direction.
Maintaining visual consistency across multiple cameras, lighting conditions, and shooting environments.
Ensuring our social media reels look polished and retain their visual quality across platforms.
You'll work closely with our Manila-based editor, receiving locked timelines and source footage for grading before returning the finished material for final delivery. Our projects are shot on the A7siii, using SLOG3.
The color grader will be hired at a minimum of 10 hours/month, with the option of increasing scope for any month.
Requirements
Strong proficiency in DaVinci Resolve, particularly its color grading tools.
A portfolio demonstrating professional color correction and creative grading.
Experience working with Sony S-Log3 footage.
Understanding of color management, color spaces, skin tones, and delivery formats.
Familiarity with Premiere Pro to DaVinci Resolve workflows, including XML round-tripping.
Ability to independently troubleshoot footage and identify technical issues.
Someone who reads instructions. In your reply to me, tell me about which animal you most identify with.
Reliable internet connection and sufficient local storage to download, manage, and archive large video projects.
Strong written and spoken English communication skills.
Ability to meet deadlines and work independently in a remote environment.
Experience grading commercial, real estate, interview, and social media content is highly preferred.
Who We're Looking For
Technical ability is important, but we're equally interested in finding the right person to join our small team. We're looking for someone who:
Takes ownership: Goes above and beyond the assigned task, identifies issues proactively, and takes pride in delivering excellent work.
Communicates well: Keeps the team informed, asks questions when necessary, and is comfortable collaborating remotely.
Has attention to detail: Notices inconsistencies that others might overlook and doesn't settle for a grade that's simply good enough.
Works well in small teams: Understands that we're a growing production company, not a large agency with multiple departments.
Is adaptable: Comfortable working across different industries, creative styles, and project requirements.
Wants to grow with us: We're looking to establish a long-term working relationship with someone who can become an important part of RJP as we continue to expand.
We value initiative. If you see an opportunity to improve our workflow, image quality, or overall production standards, we want to hear your ideas.
