JOB OVERVIEW

We Don't Need a SQL Jockey. We Need an Engineer Who Turns Raw Data Into Business Decisions.
Data / ETL Engineer
Most data engineers move data around. You'll build the pipelines that tell us what's winning and what's not.

About Rescale Media
We're not just another e-commerce company. We're a brand incubator on a mission to build enduring, value-driven brands that bring meaningful products into families' lives.
We've scaled from just drop shipping to a 30+ person team doing $1M+/month. Our goal? Multi 9-figures. And we're just getting started.

Our Core Values
GENIUSES & OWNERS We partner with builders who think like founders. Not employees waiting to be told what to do—owners who see a problem and fix it.
ITERATIONS > HOURS We don't measure success by time at your desk. We measure it by how fast you can test, learn, and improve. Ship it. Learn. Repeat.
TRUTH OVER EGO We prioritize honesty and clarity, even when it's uncomfortable. No politics. No BS. Just data and results.

The Mission
Close the loop between execution and results.
You'll build the data systems that tell us what's working—connecting performance data to decisions so we can double down on winners and kill losers fast.

What You'll Do
Build and maintain performance data ingestion pipelines
Implement attribution logic to connect actions to outcomes
Create winner detection systems that surface top performers
Design and optimize incremental ETL pipelines
Ensure data quality and consistency across sources
Build dashboards and reporting for business decisions
What We're Looking For
2+ years of data engineering or ETL experience
Strong SQL skills and experience with data warehouses
Experience building incremental/streaming pipelines
Understanding of data modeling and schema design
Proficiency in Python
Familiarity with orchestration tools (Airflow, Dagster, etc.)

Bonus Points:
Experience with e-commerce or marketing data
Background with attribution modeling
You've built real-time or near-real-time pipelines
Experience with dbt or similar transformation tools

This Role Is NOT For...
We're being direct because we respect your time:
Engineers who just run queries, not build systems
Those who haven't dealt with messy, inconsistent source data
Anyone who thinks ETL is just moving data from A to B
People who can't explain data quality issues in business terms

Compensation & Benefits
Monthly Salary: $2,000/month
Plus:
Monthly performance bonuses tied to company Operating Profit (5-25% of salary)
Quarterly profit pool distribution (2-7.5% of company profits shared among team)
Remote-first environment
Work with a team of A-players who actually give a damn
Direct founder access—no layers of bureaucracy
Real ownership of your domain—we don't micromanage

Our Hiring Process
We don't waste time—yours or ours. Here's how it works:
Step 1: Application (You're here!)
Step 2: Task Test - Build an ETL pipeline that aggregates event data and ranks top-performing items
Step 3: Interview with Founder
Step 4: WhatsApp update for next steps
Step 5: Signing of Independent Contractor and NDA
Step 6: Onboarding and Training
Total timeline: 1 week from application to offer.

P.S. If you've built a pipeline that helped a team make faster, better decisions—and you can show the impact—we want to hear about it.
P.P.S. If you're reading this far, you're already more thorough than 90% of applicants. That's exactly who we want.
