JOB OVERVIEW

ABOUT US
MedSurf Housing provides furnished, mid-term co-living homes across the United States for traveling medical learners — medical students on clinical rotations, residents, ultrasound and pharmacy techs, and other healthcare professionals. Our mission is to remove housing as a barrier to medical education. Our guests work long clinical hours, so we solve problems before they become problems.

The same owner also runs Traumatic Skin Institute, a skincare product line and medical consulting practice (no patient care).

THE ROLE
You will be the consistent daily voice for both companies. Most of your time will go to MedSurf, taking care of guests already living in our homes. We hold ourselves to a Ritz-Carlton standard of service. Our goal is a calm, drama-free shared living experience.

This is a customer service role. You will never give medical, clinical, or product-safety advice — those questions are escalated to the owner.

SCHEDULE (SET HOURS)
• Part-time, approximately 22 hours per week
• Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–1:00 PM US Central Time (currently 10:00 PM–2:00 AM Philippine Time; 11:00 PM–3:00 AM after US daylight saving time ends in November)
• Saturday: 1–2 hour inbox check, focused on guest move-ins
• During your shift you answer calls live and use the time between calls for inbox management and proactive guest follow-ups

MEDSURF HOUSING RESPONSIBILITIES
• Answer phone calls and messages from guests, prospective guests, and partners
• Send proactive messages: let current roommates know when someone new is checking in, remind guests of checkout dates, and do weekly "how's everything going?" check-ins
• Respond to time-sensitive guest questions quickly and warmly
• Spot small issues early (housekeeping, supplies, roommate friction) and escalate them with a proposed solution

TRAUMATIC SKIN INSTITUTE RESPONSIBILITIES
• Monitor and respond to the email inbox
• Follow up with customers on product reviews
• Keep the social media calendar full and make sure every post has the information it needs

REQUIREMENTS
• Excellent spoken and written English — this matters more than anything else
• Customer service experience (1+ year preferred)
• Calm, warm, professional phone presence
• Reliable internet with a backup power/internet plan, a quiet workspace, and a headset
• Able to consistently work the set hours above
• Takes initiative: you bring solutions, not just questions

STRONGLY PREFERRED
• Airbnb, Vrbo, or ---------- customer service experience
• Hotel front desk or hospitality experience
• BPO voice account experience with US customers
• Familiarity with Gmail, Google Calendar, Notion, and Canva or Meta Business Suite

PAY
$5–7 per hour, based on experience and communication quality.

HOW TO APPLY (applications missing any step will not be reviewed)
1. Write "SAFETY NET" as the first line of your application.
2. Send a Loom video (3–5 minutes) in which you:
• Role-play a weekly check-in phone call with a medical student staying in one of our homes (speak as if they are on the line with you)
• Tell us about your customer service background
• Describe a challenging customer you handled, what you did, and how it turned out
3. Written test: Below is a real message we received from a guest. Write the exact reply you would send, then list any follow-up actions you would take on our end.

"Good morning,
I'm very happy in the house. I'm adjusting very well, but I'm writing to ask you a few questions:
- In the laundry area, I saw the two washing machines, but not the dryer or the clothesline. Where are they? Or is it a special feature of the washing machines? In the latter case, what is it?
- I haven't found the kettle either.
- I haven't seen the person in charge of cleaning and tidying the house this week. What day does she usually come?
I was also wondering if it would be possible to move the white table from the living room to my room so I can study. It is a shared space with a TV, and sometimes I haven't been able to use it because other roommates are relaxing in the living room, and vice versa. Other housemates haven't been able to use it because I was studying. I understand that they are shared spaces. I'm asking you so that we can all have a more comfortable stay.
Your help is greatly appreciated."
