Creative Strategist / DR Copywriter for Scaling Dog Supplement Brand (Ecom)
We're a US-based dog supplement brand (daily gut-health soft chews, subscription-first) looking for a sharp creative strategist who can write direct response copy AND think like a marketer. This is not a "just write me captions" role. You'll own competitor research, angle development, and briefs that my editing team turns into winning video ads.
What you'll do:
Research competitors (Meta Ad Library, AdSpy) and break down what's working and why
Do manual research on Reddit, Amazon reviews, and YouTube to pull real customer language, pain points, and angles — you actually enjoy digging for insights
Write direct response scripts (hooks, shot lists, on-screen text, dialogue) for UGC video ads
Build customer avatars and match angles to them
Work alongside my video editors — brief them clearly and fast so turnaround stays quick
Help level up the team; some management/leadership on the creative side
Who you are:
Proven ecom experience — you've worked with DTC brands (ideally ones doing $20k+/month or more) and can show it
Can share a portfolio of ads/scripts AND data/results behind them (spend, ROAS, what scaled)
Strong direct response fundamentals — you understand hooks, mechanisms, and buyer psychology
Great communicator, reliable, works well over
Comfortable leading and collaborating with a team of editors
You like dogs (it's a dog brand — it helps)
Growth-minded — you want to get better and grow with the brand
Details:
Part time to start, ~20 hrs/week, with room to increase hours and pay based on performance
Remote
Pay is performance-based — strong performers earn more as the brand scales
To apply: send your resume, a portfolio with results/data, and include the secret word "MONEY" at the top of your application so I know you read this fully
If every winning ad shouldn't have to come from the founder, and you want to be the person who changes that — apply.
Mini-task (do this to stand out):
Pick one ad from a competitor dog supplement brand — Dog Is Human, Zesty Paws, or any DTC pet supplement running on Meta — and give me a quick teardown. Keep it short (5–8 bullets or a few short paragraphs). I want to see:
The hook — what's the first 3 seconds doing, and why does it stop the scroll?
The angle — what desire or problem is it targeting? Who's the avatar?
The mechanism — how does the ad explain why the product works?
What's working — what would you steal?
What's weak — what would you test differently or do better?
Don't overthink the format. I'm not looking for a polished deck — I'm looking for how you think, whether you actually watched the ad closely, and whether you can turn research into an angle. This is the exact work you'd be doing day one.
Bonus points if you pull a real customer quote from Reddit, an Amazon review, or a YouTube comment and show how you'd turn it into a hook.
