Virtual Counseling Assistant (VA) – Theraplay Support

About the Role
This is a virtual support role, not the main therapist
You will support in-person therapists who work with children
You will help ensure therapy sessions follow a structured play-based model called Theraplay
You will observe sessions, help with notes, and support quality and accuracy
You will not provide therapy directly to clients
Main Responsibilities
Session Observation & Support
Watch live or recorded therapy sessions (video)
Check that sessions include:
Clear structure
Positive engagement
Nurturing interactions
Age-appropriate challenges
Help therapists stay organized and consistent during sessions
Record and timestamp sessions when needed
Therapy Quality Support
Give respectful feedback to therapists based on guidelines
Help therapists improve play activities and child engagement
Support therapist mentors with session planning
Communicate clearly with therapists and supervisors
Documentation & Notes
Help complete or review:
DAP notes
Session summaries
Progress notes
Check notes for:
Accuracy
Completeness
Same-day submission
Help correct notes if needed
Professional Standards
Follow all company rules and expectations
Maintain confidentiality at all times (HIPAA compliance required)
Keep professional boundaries (this is a work role, not social)
Accept coaching and feedback professionally
Required Qualifications
College degree required (any of the following preferred):
Psychology
Counseling
Social Work
Nursing
Education
Behavioral Health
Experience working with children
Experience or knowledge of:
Play-based therapy
Child development
Attachment-based approaches (preferred)
Comfortable with:
Documentation
Written English
Giving and receiving feedback
Required Skills
Strong English speaking and writing skills
Good note-taking and attention to detail
Reliable internet connection
Quiet, private work environment
Ability to follow instructions and learn quickly
Professional communication skills
Work Schedule (U.S. Central Time)

Monday–Friday
8:00 AM – 12:00 PM
12:00 PM – 4:00 PM
4:00 PM – 8:00 PM
Saturday (if needed)
9:00 AM – 12:00 PM
12:00 PM – 4:00 PM
Compensation
Training rate: $5.00 USD/hour
Training period: 30–60 days
Regular rate: $6.00 – $8.00 USD/hour
Bonus pay for productivity and accuracy
Paid based on hours worked + completed tasks
