Position Purpose
The Corporate In-House Attorney provides legal guidance and support to a fast-growing behavioral health organization. This role will help the company manage contracts, regulatory and compliance matters, employment issues, risk, disputes, policies, and other legal needs.
Key Performance Indicators
Success in this role will be measured by the ability to:
* Draft, review, negotiate, and coordinate contracts within agreed timelines.
* Keep legal matter trackers, contract files, templates, and legal records organized and up to date.
* Provide timely legal guidance to company leaders and departments.
* Help reduce unnecessary outside legal expenses by handling appropriate matters internally.
* Coordinate effectively with outside counsel when specialized legal support is needed.
* Support compliance, policy development, training, and audit readiness.
* Identify and escalate high-risk legal matters before they become larger problems.
* Provide clear recommendations, options, and next steps when legal risks arise.
* Maintain accurate documentation and communication related to legal matters.

Core Responsibilities
Contract and Legal Support
* Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, leases, vendor agreements, payor agreements, and employment-related documents.
* Review contract terms and identify potential legal and business risks.
* Advise leaders on contract obligations, deadlines, confidentiality, termination rights, and risk allocation.
* Maintain legal templates, approved contract language, and contract playbooks.
* Help establish and maintain consistent legal review and approval processes.
Legal, Compliance, and Risk Management
* Provide legal guidance on corporate, employment, healthcare, regulatory, privacy, and operational matters.
* Support compliance initiatives, internal policies, training, and legal readiness.
* Assist with dispute resolution and responses to legal concerns.
* Identify potential legal and compliance risks and recommend appropriate actions.
* Support audits, due diligence, and other legal or regulatory reviews.
Outside Counsel and Legal Matters
* Coordinate with outside counsel on litigation, state-specific legal matters, specialized advice, and major transactions.
* Track outside counsel matters, budgets, and legal expenses.
* Maintain organized legal matter logs and records.
* Provide leadership with clear updates on important legal matters and risks.
Systems, Documentation, and Reporting
* Maintain organized legal files, trackers, contracts, SOPs, and reports.
* Keep documentation accurate, current, and easy to review.
* Maintain clear records of legal decisions, communications, and follow-up actions.
* Provide regular status updates to leadership as needed.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
* Work closely with leadership and other departments to understand business needs and provide practical legal solutions.
* Ensure legal handoffs and responsibilities are clearly documented.
* Communicate clearly with internal teams, outside counsel, and other stakeholders.
* Escalate unclear ownership, missing information, compliance concerns, or significant risks promptly.
Required Qualifications
* 5+ years of legal experience preferred.
* Experience in one or more of the following areas is preferred:
* Corporate law
* Healthcare law
* Employment law
* Contract law
* Regulatory or compliance matters
