• Oversee all accounting procedures, including Accounts Receivable (A/R), Accounts Payable (A/P), Inventory, time billing, Payroll (P/R), General Ledger (G/L), tax payments, revenue recognition, debt schedule, right of use assets and inventory control to ensure compliance with GAAP
• Prepare financial statements, including monthly and quarterly reports, as well as weekly forecasts summarizing the current and projected financial position to the management team.
• Process payroll for the company, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant regulations.
• Conduct month-end and quarterly closing procedures, including the preparation of balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
• Monitor all bank activity, reconciling cash and supporting the treasury function
• Analyze and reconcile general ledger accounts and investment transactions, preparing quarterly reports for management review.
• Produce financial data for management team upon request and assist with other special accounting projects as needed.
• Perform monthly analysis of operations, identifying areas for improvement and cost-saving opportunities.
• Drive automation and AI initiatives within the finance department to streamline processes and enhance efficiency.
• Ensure all active projects are covered by valid, binding contracts, working closely with the legal and operations teams as necessary.
• Ensure compliance with local legal entity reporting obligations.
• Manage local tax reporting compliance, including sales taxes, corporate tax, and payroll taxes, with knowledge of Transfer Pricing rules being advantageous.
• Lead interactions with external auditors.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES
Knowledge, skills and abilities need for this job:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA certification preferred.
• Proven experience in retail accounting for service-oriented businesses, preferably in a multi-location setting.
• Strong proficiency in accounting software systems, ideally Dynamics 365, with experience transitioning between platforms.
• Demonstrated expertise in financial statement preparation, payroll processing, and regulatory compliance.
• Experience managing audits and serving as a liaison with external auditors.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Highly organized with excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial analysis tools.
• Ability to provide tangible examples of leveraging AI or automation to streamline staff tasks and improve the timeliness of deliverables.
• Intensely curious about emerging technologies, automation and AI and their application in finance and accounting.
Valuable supplementary expertise:
• Prior experience as an auditor or CPA license holder.
• E-commerce experience, particularly with Shopify platforms.
