We are looking for a Content Operations Manager to run the full production pipeline for long-form documentary / essay-style videos. Our creator has around 10 million subscribers and is launching a new channel and requires this assistance.
Your role is to manage the entire process from idea to final upload.
The creator will focus on recording and final approvals, while you ensure the entire production pipeline runs smoothly.
This role is ideal for someone who understands storytelling, research, and audience retention and enjoys managing creative teams.
Responsibilities
1. Ideas & Planning
Find strong documentary / essay topics with engaging angles
Maintain an idea bank and help plan weekly/monthly releases
Outline the story structure before scripting (what happens, in what order, and why it’s interesting)
2. Script & Research
Write scripts or hire/manage writers
Gather reliable sources and references
Maintain a simple “claims + sources” document for each project
Ensure all major claims are accurate and supported
3. Packaging (Titles & Thumbnails)
Propose 3–5 title options for each video
Suggest 2–3 thumbnail directions
Hire/manage thumbnail artists if needed
Finalize the best title + thumbnail combination before publishing
Monitor performance and recommend improvements if changes are needed after release
4. Editing & Quality Control
Manage editors and provide clear revision notes
Ensure strong pacing and engaging storytelling (strong hook, no slow sections)
Verify footage usage is correct and there are no factual or narrative gaps
5. Systems & Operations
Keep projects organized
Track files, deadlines, and versions
Build simple SOPs and checklists so the production process runs smoothly and can scale
Requirements
Experience working with documentary or essay-style video content
Strong research and storytelling ability
Experience managing writers, editors, or creative teams
Ability to organize projects and keep production on schedule
Strong attention to detail
Nice to Have
Experience with thumbnails, titles, or video packaging
Experience managing remote creative teams
Familiarity with audience retention and storytelling pacing

Flexible schedule
20–30 hours per week initially (can grow over time)
