JOB OVERVIEW

Communications Integration Engineer – Twilio or Similar

We are seeking an experienced **Communications Integration Engineer** to integrate Twilio or a similar cloud communications platform into an existing web application.

The primary goal is to enable users to **make and receive phone calls directly through the application** while automatically tracking call activity, recordings, statuses, and communication history.

We are open to solutions using **Twilio platform**. The ideal candidate should be able to recommend the best solution based on reliability, scalability, security, functionality, and cost.

## Responsibilities

* Integrate Twilio or a similar communications platform with our web application
* Build outbound calling directly from within the application
* Configure inbound calling and call routing
* Implement browser-based calling where appropriate
* Configure phone numbers and user-level call routing
* Develop secure backend API integrations
* Configure webhooks and call-status callbacks
* Capture and store call activity within the application
* Implement call recording functionality
* Associate calls with the appropriate customer, provider, and application user
* Track call duration, timestamps, direction, status, and outcomes
* Implement error handling, monitoring, and logging
* Troubleshoot call routing, audio, API, authentication, and connectivity issues
* Perform end-to-end testing
* Support production deployment
* Document the integration and architecture

## Desired Workflow

A user should be able to:

**Open a customer or provider profile ? Click Call ? Make the call through the application ? Complete the conversation ? Have the call automatically logged in the platform.**

Receive calls that routes to the application allowing employees to answer calls on the application

The system should capture information including:

* Caller
* Recipient
* Phone number
* User initiating the call
* Customer/provider associated with the call
* Call start and end time
* Call duration
* Call status
* Call direction
* Platform Call ID
* Recording information
* Failed-call reason when applicable

## Required Qualifications

* Experience integrating **Twilio or another cloud telephony/CPaaS platform**
* Strong experience with REST APIs
* Experience implementing webhooks
* Experience with voice APIs
* Experience with JavaScript/TypeScript and modern backend development
* Understanding of API authentication and credential security
* Experience integrating third-party services with web applications
* Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills
* Ability to independently design and implement integration architecture

* SMS communication
* Call analytics
* Automated outbound calling
* AI voice agents

## Project Deliverables

The selected engineer will be responsible for delivering a production-ready integration that includes:

* Working outbound calling
* Inbound calling/routing where applicable
* Call-status tracking
* Call history within the application
* Recording functionality
* Secure API and webhook architecture
* Database integration
* Logging and error handling
* End-to-end testing
* Technical documentation
* Production deployment support
