JOB OVERVIEW
We are a UK based construction and refurbishment company looking for a detail focused Commercial Assistant to support our commercial team with cost control, procurement administration, and reporting.
This is a process driven, spreadsheet based role, ideal for someone with experience supporting estimators, quantity surveyors, or construction commercial teams.
This role does not require commercial decision making. Your focus will be on accuracy, consistency and organised reporting, supporting the UK team so they can focus on delivery and commercial decisions.
This is a long term position, not a short term gig.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Measurement & Take Off Support
• Measure quantities from PDF construction drawings
• Prepare and update basic Bills of Quantities (BOQs)
• Revise quantities as drawings or scope change
Cost Plan & CVR Support
• Maintain live Excel based cost plans
• Update budgets vs actuals vs forecasts
• Input subcontractor pricing and cost changes
• Update monthly CVR (Cost Value Reconciliation) templates
• Highlight cost variances for review
Procurement Administration
• Issue enquiry emails to subcontractors (templates provided)
• Chase outstanding quotations
• Prepare comparison spreadsheets
• Log and track received pricing
Commercial Administration
• Maintain variation logs
• Track site instructions and variation order status
• Organise subcontractor documentation and pricing records
• Keep project files structured and up to date

ESSENTIAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Please apply only if you have experience supporting construction or commercial teams.
• Previous experience supporting one or more of the following:
o Construction estimators
o Quantity surveyors
o Commercial managers
o Construction project teams
• Strong Excel skills (cost plans, formulas, structured spreadsheets)
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings
• High attention to detail and accuracy
• Excellent written English
• Comfortable following instructions, templates and processes
• Reliable internet connection and home working setup

DESIRABLE (NOT ESSENTIAL)
• Experience with UK construction projects
