JOB OVERVIEW

Help Increase Bid Capacity Through Accurate Construction Takeoffs!

Are you experienced in civil construction estimating and quantity takeoffs? Do you have a strong eye for detail and enjoy working with construction plans, measurements, and project quantities?

We are looking for a reliable, analytical, and detail-oriented Civil Estimator / Takeoff Specialist to support the estimating team of a growing U.S.-based construction company.

In this role, you will prepare accurate quantity takeoffs from construction drawings and specifications, helping senior estimators focus on final estimates and bid preparation.

Experience with AGTEK is highly preferred, but candidates with experience using comparable takeoff software may also be considered. The right candidate must be comfortable interpreting construction plans, performing accurate quantity calculations, asking questions when information is unclear, and learning established estimating workflows.

If you are proactive, coachable, and committed to producing accurate work, we would love to hear from you!

Key Responsibilities

Construction Quantity Takeoffs:
Review civil construction plans, drawings, specifications, and bid documents.
Prepare accurate 2D sitework quantity takeoffs.
Progress to utility takeoffs involving water, sewer, and storm systems.
Develop proficiency in 3D takeoffs and earthwork calculations as experience and training progress.
Organize takeoff results, calculations, and supporting documentation for the estimating team.

Plan Review & Quality Control:
Interpret construction drawings and identify relevant dimensions, quantities, and scope requirements.
Identify missing information, discrepancies, and conflicting details that could affect takeoff accuracy.
Double-check calculations and completed takeoffs before submission.
Ask questions when project information is unclear rather than making assumptions.
Incorporate feedback to improve accuracy and consistency.

Estimating Support & Documentation:
Maintain organized takeoff files and project documentation.
Communicate progress, outstanding questions, and potential issues proactively.
Prepare takeoff information in a clear format for senior estimators to review.
Follow established estimating procedures and meet agreed deadlines.
Help the team evaluate more bid opportunities by delivering reliable and accurate takeoffs.

Team Collaboration:
Work closely with the estimating team and participate in training and knowledge-sharing.
Communicate through Zoom, email, and messaging platforms.
Follow established workflows, templates, and quality standards.
Take ownership of assigned work while remaining receptive to guidance and feedback.

Qualifications

Experience in civil construction estimating, quantity takeoffs, or a related construction role.
Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
Experience performing accurate construction quantity takeoffs.
Strong attention to detail, numerical accuracy, and analytical skills.
Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and communicate questions proactively.
Willingness to learn new software, follow established workflows, and incorporate feedback.

Software Requirements

AGTEK: Highly preferred.
Comparable software: Experience with Trimble Business Center, Bluebeam Revu, or similar construction takeoff software is an advantage.
Familiarity with CAD files and drawing layers is helpful; CAD design experience is not required.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general digital documentation tools is beneficial.

Relevant takeoff experience and the ability to interpret construction plans are the primary considerations. Candidates without AGTEK experience may be considered if they have relevant experience with comparable software and demonstrate the ability to learn AGTEK.

Work Setup

Position: Civil Estimator / Takeoff Specialist
Employment Type: Full-Time, up to 40 hours per week
Work Arrangement: Remote
Initial Schedule: U.S. Eastern Time business hours to support training and collaboration
Long-Term Schedule Goal: Transition toward Philippine daytime hours, with some overlap with the U.S. team, so completed takeoffs are ready for review each morning
Communication: Zoom, email, and messaging platforms

How to Apply

Please submit the following:

1. Updated Resume - highlighting your civil construction estimating and quantity takeoff experience.

2. Portfolio or Work Samples - showing relevant takeoff experience, if available and permitted to share. Please remove confidential client and project information.

3. Short Video Introduction (60 - 90 seconds) - explaining why you are a good fit for this role, your relevant experience, and how you can support an estimating team.
