Role Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Quantity Surveyor/Office Engineer to join our dynamic team. This multifaceted role combines quantity surveying expertise with office engineering and financial administration, focusing on accurate cost estimation, project budgeting, and comprehensive project support. The successful candidate will work closely with our project managers, site teams, and clients to ensure precise cost control and seamless project delivery from concept to completion.
Key Responsibilities
Cost Estimation & Quantity Surveying
Project Estimating: Calculate materials, labor costs, and overall project budgets with precision
BOQ & BOM Preparation: Develop comprehensive Bills of Quantities and Bills of Materials for all projects
Job Pricing: Analyze construction plans and prepare detailed quantity requirements and pricing structures
Contract Analysis: Scrutinize maintenance costs, material expenses, and contracts to secure optimal deals
Tender Management: Analyze tenders and manage procurement processes for construction and design projects
Prepare accurate brickwork and blockwork quantity take-offs, including bricks, blocks, mortar, lintels, insulation, and related masonry components
Analyze brickwork labor and material rates to ensure competitive and accurate pricing
Estimating Tools: Utilize software including Simpro, JobTread, Bluebeam, PlanSwift, CostX, Measure Square, Stone Pro, and Microsoft Office to support estimating, budgeting, and project documentation.
Project Coordination & Client Management
Stakeholder Liaison: Coordinate with site managers, clients, contractors, and subcontractors to ensure smooth project execution
Reporting: Prepare comprehensive reports, analyses, contracts, budgets, and risk assessments
Strategic Advisory: Advise managers and clients on cost improvements, new strategies, and savings opportunities
Change Management: Document design changes and update budgets accordingly
Material Management: Track materials inventory and coordinate ordering when required
Financial Administration & Office Support
Invoice Management: Handle invoicing processes and perform data entry for financial documentation
Administrative Support: Assist staff accountants and handle various office and financial tasks
Client Administration: Manage administrative tasks delegated by clients with efficiency and accuracy
Required Skills & Experience
Technical Requirements
Quantity Surveying: Proven experience in cost estimation, BOQ preparation, and quantity surveying methodologies
Construction Knowledge: Strong understanding of construction processes, materials, and industry standards
Financial Acumen: Experience with budget management, financial reporting, and cost control
Contract Management: Knowledge of construction contracts, procurement, and tender analysis
Simpro Experience: Hands-on experience using Simpro for job costing, project budgeting, invoicing, and workflow management
Professional Skills
Analytical Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities with exceptional attention to detail
Software Proficiency: Competency in quantity surveying software, spreadsheet applications, and financial systems
Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills for client and contractor liaison
Organization: Outstanding organizational skills with ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Adaptability: Flexibility to handle diverse administrative and technical tasks
