We are a growing Australian-based screen printing and merchandise company working with brands, artists, and businesses to produce high-quality custom products.

We operate lean and efficiently, combining local leadership with offshore talent. As we scale, we are looking for an experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to take ownership of our financial operations and support strategic growth.

Role Overview

This is a hands-on CFO role suited to someone with strong experience in Australian businesses who can operate both strategically and operationally.

You will be responsible for overseeing the full finance function, improving financial processes, and providing clear insights to support business decisions - while also being comfortable getting involved in day-to-day accounting when required.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Leadership & Strategy
• Lead the financial strategy of the business
• Provide insights on profitability, cost control, and growth opportunities
• Support decision-making with clear financial reporting and analysis
• Develop and monitor KPIs across the business

Reporting & Compliance (Australia-Focused)
Oversee preparation of:
• Monthly management reports
• P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow statements
• Ensure compliance with:
• BAS, GST, PAYG, Superannuation
• Liaise with external accountants and advisors in Australia

Cash Flow & Budgeting
• Own cash flow forecasting and management
• Develop and manage budgets and financial models
• Monitor financial performance vs forecasts

Operations & Team Management
• Manage and oversee offshore admin/accounting team
• Ensure accuracy of bookkeeping, reconciliations, and reporting
• Improve systems, processes, and workflows

Hands-On Financial Management
• Oversee (and when required assist with):
• AP/AR
• Payroll
• Bank reconciliations
• Ensure Xero is accurate and up to date

Requirements

Must Have
• Minimum 5+ years experience in a CFO / Financial Controller role within an Australian business
Strong understanding of:
• Australian accounting standards and tax requirements
• BAS, GST, PAYG, Superannuation
• Proven experience managing financial reporting, cash flow, and budgeting
• Advanced experience with:
• Xero (essential)
• Excel / Google Sheets
• Experience managing or working with offshore teams
• Strong English communication skills (written and verbal)

Highly Preferred
• Experience in SME / owner-operated businesses
• Experience in manufacturing, e-commerce, or inventory-based businesses
• CPA / CA qualified (or equivalent experience)
• Process improvement and automation experience
