Role Overview
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a senior executive responsible for the organization’s financial strategy, governance, and performance. This role requires a highly autonomous finance leader with deep banking and financial services expertise, capable of operating effectively in a fully remote, high-expectation environment. The CFO must demonstrate strong self-direction, disciplined execution, and the ability to lead and manage distributed finance teams with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic & Executive Leadership
Develop and execute an enterprise-wide financial strategy aligned with organizational objectives.
Serve as a strategic financial advisor to the CEO and Board of Directors.
Provide clear, concise, and data-driven financial insights to support executive and board-level decision-making.
Anticipate financial risks and opportunities and proactively recommend actions.
Financial Management & Reporting
Oversee all financial functions, including accounting, FP&A, treasury, tax, and financial systems.
Ensure timely, accurate, and transparent financial reporting in a remote operating environment.
Lead budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning with minimal executive oversight.
Establish performance metrics and financial dashboards to drive accountability.
Banking, Treasury & Capital Management
Manage banking relationships, credit facilities, liquidity planning, and capital structure.
Lead capital-raising, refinancing, and debt management initiatives.
Ensure compliance with financial covenants and regulatory requirements.
Oversee treasury operations and financial risk management.
Risk, Compliance & Governance
Ensure full compliance with applicable banking regulations, accounting standards, and internal policies.
Maintain strong internal controls and audit readiness with limited day-to-day supervision.
Oversee external audits, regulatory reviews, and financial risk frameworks.
Act as the organization’s senior authority on financial governance.
Remote Leadership & Team Management
Build, lead, and scale high-performing finance teams in a fully remote or distributed environment.
Set clear expectations, goals, and accountability without reliance on close supervision.
Implement structured processes, documentation, and reporting rhythms to support remote execution.
Coach and develop finance leaders while maintaining high performance standards.
Ensure cross-functional collaboration across time zones and geographies.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field; MBA preferred.
CPA, CFA, or equivalent professional certification strongly preferred.
Minimum of 10 years of progressive senior finance leadership experience in banking or financial services.
Prior CFO, Deputy CFO, or Head of Finance experience is strongly preferred.
Demonstrated success leading remote or distributed teams.
Proven ability to operate independently, prioritize effectively, and deliver results without close supervision.
Extensive experience working with executive leadership teams and Boards of Directors.
