Hello,
I run Falcon Insurance of Michigan, a boutique commercial insurance brokerage focused on delivering white-glove level service to our clients.
Our business is growing tremendously right now, and we're looking for a COI / ACORD specialist & operations assistant to add to our team. We envision growing with this person and seeing them become our go-to certificate expert and one of our main service leads!
This person must have hands-on experience issuing certificates of insurance and a solid understanding of commercial insurance, along with a passion for fast, accurate turnaround.
The winning applicant must absolutely have the following:
Reliable high-speed Internet access
Computer with dual monitors (strongly preferred)
Headset suitable for taking phone calls
Webcam for occasional team calls and screen-share sessions
The winning applicant must absolutely have the following characteristics:
At least 2 years of experience issuing certificates of insurance (COIs)
Strong working knowledge of ACORD forms (25, 24, 27, 28, and 125/126/140 a plus)
Able to read contracts and lease agreements and pick out the insurance requirements
Understands additional insured, waiver of subrogation, primary & non-contributory, and notice of cancellation wording
Knows when a request requires an endorsement from the carrier, not just a certificate
Previous experience working in Insurance (extra points for commercial P&C insurance)
Experience issuing certificates in an agency management system (AMS360 a big plus)
Experience with evidence of property for lenders, mortgagees, and property managers
Very detail-oriented, and Deadline-obsessed
Fluent in English, both written and spoken (We regularly discuss complicated business insurance with our clients, their vendors, and their lenders)
Friendly and great with people
Comfortable handling urgent, same-day requests from contractors and job sites
Tech-comfortable (Excel, Outlook, PDF editors, carrier portals)
Comfortable logging details in spreadsheets
Trust-worthy, communicative and reliable
We would like this person to work full-time. It is important to note that the work hours are not limited to 8 hours per day, that is simply the minimum. Your work hours will depend on how efficiently you can work. You will be required to work normal business hours in our time zone. We're open from 9 AM - 5 PM EST every weekday.
The winning candidate will go through a 30-day trial wherein we'll further assess if you're a good fit for the company as well as if it's a good fit for you.
For our company to grow, everything must run on checklists / working procedures. You will be expected to:
Follow step-by-step procedures that already exist
Make suggestions on how to improve checklists and certificate workflows (when you see legitimate improvement opportunities - I may say yes or no)
Be able to grasp how the procedures are done, and be able to write a certificate procedure when asked to
Projects you'll be involved in include:
Processing incoming certificate requests by phone,
Issuing COIs and evidence of property forms accurately and on deadline
Reviewing contract and lease insurance requirements and flagging coverage gaps to our account managers
Requesting additional insured and waiver of subrogation endorsements from carriers when needed
Maintaining certificate holder lists and reissuing certificates at renewal
Responding to certificate compliance requests from vendors, lenders, and property managers
Updating Spreadsheets
Other Miscellaneous tasks
Timeline:
Starting as soon as I find a qualified applicant; next few weeks would be nice, although I'm not going to rush the process. I need the right person in this position
30-day trial to begin; if we like each other we'll continue
