General Manager / Brand Lead
Build & Scale a New DTC E-Commerce Brand | Remote
We are an established international e-commerce company with years of experience operating and scaling online stores across multiple markets.
We are now building a new consumer brand with the ambition to create a serious, scalable, long-term DTC business.
We have capital, e-commerce infrastructure, an existing team and extensive performance marketing experience.
What we need is an experienced Brand General Manager / Brand Lead who knows how to turn this foundation into a real brand.
This is not a role for someone who wants to receive a marketing calendar and execute it.
We want someone who can help determine what should be built, assemble and lead the right team, and take ownership of execution.
Your Mission
Take ownership of building and scaling the new brand together with the founder.
You will translate the founder’s vision and ideas into a complete commercial strategy and operating plan, challenge ideas when necessary and lead execution.
Responsibilities
Depending on the strategy and stage of the brand, you will own or lead areas including:
* Brand strategy and positioning
* Customer and market research
* Ideal customer profile development
* Competitive analysis
* Go-to-market strategy
* Product positioning and merchandising
* Offer development
* Pricing strategy
* Creative strategy
* Content strategy
* UGC and creator strategy
* Influencer/partnership strategy
* Paid acquisition strategy together with performance marketing specialists
* Landing pages and conversion strategy
* Retention and lifecycle marketing
* Customer experience
* Brand consistency
* Marketing calendar
* Commercial KPIs and unit economics
* Hiring and managing the people needed to execute the strategy
You will not necessarily execute every specialist task yourself.
Part of your job is knowing which capabilities we need, when we need them and who should own them.
Who We Are Looking For
We want someone who has actually helped build or scale a successful consumer/DTC brand.
Ideal candidates have:
* Significant DTC/e-commerce experience
* Experience building or scaling a consumer brand
* Strong understanding of performance marketing AND brand building
* Strong creative judgment
* Experience managing multidisciplinary marketing/creative teams
* Understanding of customer acquisition, retention and unit economics
* Experience hiring or managing specialists
* Strong analytical ability
* Strong commercial instincts
* An entrepreneurial mindset
Experience inside an early-stage or rapidly scaling DTC company is particularly valuable.
What We Do NOT Want
We are not looking for:
* A social media manager
* A generic marketing manager
* A pure media buyer
* A corporate brand marketer who has never owned commercial results
* Someone who only manages agencies
* Someone who requires the founder to design the entire strategy
* Someone whose experience consists mainly of courses or personal projects
Ownership
You should be comfortable telling the founder:
“I disagree with this approach, and here is the evidence for why.”
We want expertise, not agreement.
At the same time, you must be extremely execution-oriented.
Strategy without execution is not useful to us.
What Success Looks Like
You become the internal owner of the new brand.
The founder remains closely involved in vision and major strategic decisions, but should not need to personally manage every creator, marketer, designer, agency or launch project.
You build the machine.
