Cool Cat Fence is a fast-growing U.S.-based fencing contractor specializing in residential and commercial fencing solutions. As we continue to expand, we are strengthening our financial operations and seeking a highly capable Payroll & Accounting Support Contractor to support payroll processing, reconciliations, benefits administration, and financial data accuracy.
This is a critical operational role supporting U.S. payroll and accounting workflows. We are looking for a detail-oriented professional who can work independently, maintain strict confidentiality, and contribute to the accuracy and integrity of our financial processes.
Position Overview
This is a remote independent contractor position based in the Philippines.
The Payroll & Accounting Support Contractor will assist with payroll administration, reconciliation activities, employee compensation tracking, benefits support, and accounting-related reporting. The ideal candidate has a strong accounting background and understands payroll from both an operational and financial perspective.
This position requires accuracy, consistency, accountability, and the ability to manage recurring financial processes with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities
Payroll Administration
Support end-to-end payroll preparation, validation, and processing for U.S. payroll cycles.
Review payroll data for accuracy, including wages, overtime, bonuses, commissions, reimbursements, and deductions.
Maintain employee payroll records and compensation information.
Assist with payroll audits and payroll-related compliance documentation.
Research payroll discrepancies and support timely resolution.
Accounting & Reconciliation
Perform payroll reconciliations and assist with month-end closing activities.
Reconcile payroll-related accounts and investigate variances.
Support preparation of journal entries and payroll-related accounting documentation.
Maintain organized financial records and supporting documentation.
Assist with internal reporting and management requests.
Benefits & Employee Data Administration
Support administration of employee benefits, including health, dental, vision, HSA, and retirement plans.
Assist with employee onboarding, offboarding, and payroll system updates.
Process compensation changes, deductions, and benefit-related updates.
Maintain accurate employee records across payroll and accounting systems.
Reporting & Compliance
Prepare payroll summaries and financial support reports for leadership review.
Assist with audit preparation and documentation requests.
Ensure confidentiality and security of employee and financial information.
Follow established procedures and contribute to process improvements.
Qualifications
Required
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Bookkeeping
Minimum of 3 years of payroll, accounting, bookkeeping, or related financial experience.
Strong understanding of accounting principles, including reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, and financial reporting.
Experience working with payroll systems such as Gusto, ADP, QuickBooks Payroll, Paychex, or similar platforms.
Advanced proficiency with Quickbooks and Excel. Certifications would be prefered.
Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
Ability to work independently in a remote environment with minimal supervision.
High level of integrity, professionalism, and discretion.
Preferred
CPA designation or CPA candidate.
Experience supporting U.S.-based payroll operations.
Experience with benefits administration and employee compensation tracking.
Experience supporting accounting close processes and financial reporting.

Compensation
