JOB OVERVIEW

Role Title: Bookkeeper
Company: By The 10th, an emerging AI-powered accounting and bookkeeping firm
Reports To: Founders
Location: Remote - Philippines-based candidates
Work Schedule: Part-time to start, expected to grow to full-time as the client base grows. Must be available during US overlap hours (9am–5pm MST).
Compensation: $4.00 USD/hour to start, with growth opportunities as the firm grows

About Us
By The 10th is an early-stage accounting and bookkeeping firm that combines AI automation with expert human oversight to deliver fast, accurate, and affordable financials to small businesses, every month, by the 10th. Many of our clients are in the real estate industry, including rental property owners. We are building our team now, and this is a true ground-floor opportunity to grow with us from day one.

Role Purpose
The Bookkeeper is the expert eye behind our AI. Using our proprietary AI software and workflow, you will review and correct AI-coded transactions, produce accurate financial statements and reports, and make sure every client receives their financials by the 10th of each month. This role is about ownership: catching what the AI misses, keeping your clients' books clean, and helping us improve the process as we scale.

Key Responsibilities

1. Accurate Books:
- Keep every assigned client's books clean and correct.
- AI review & correction: Review AI-coded transactions in our proprietary software and correct any miscategorized or unclear items.
- Categorization & property allocation: Categorize transactions accurately and consistently across all assigned clients, and allocate each transaction to the correct property for real estate and rental clients.
- Quality: Spot patterns in AI errors and flag them so the workflow can be improved.
- Confidentiality: Protect client information and handle sensitive financial data with care.

2. Financial Reporting by the 10th:
- Deliver on the promise in our name.
- Statements & reports: Generate monthly financial statements and reports using our proprietary AI software.
- On-time delivery: Deliver financials to every assigned client by the 10th of each month.
- Deadline tracking: Track month-end deadlines and raise any risk to the founders early, with a proposed solution.

3. Client Support:
- Be a clear, reliable point of contact for your clients.
- Information requests: Request documents and clarification on unclear transactions, and follow up until resolved.
- Client questions: Respond professionally to client questions about their books and reports, escalating to the founders when needed.
- Process improvement: Share ideas to make the workflow faster, more accurate, and easier for clients.

Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience
- Experience with real estate or rental property bookkeeping is a strong plus
- Strong written English communication skills
- Highly detail-oriented, organized, and able to meet firm monthly deadlines
- Comfortable learning new software, including proprietary AI tools (we will train you on our system)
- Self-directed and comfortable in an early-stage, evolving environment
- Reliable internet connection and a quiet remote work setup
- Experience with AI tools is helpful but not required

Accurate Books - AI-coded work is reviewed and corrected thoroughly, and supervisor reviews turn up very few errors.
Financial Reporting by the 10th - Every client receives accurate financials by the 10th, every month.
Client Support - Clients get clear, timely answers and feel confident in their numbers.
KPI Achievement - Books closed and financials delivered by the 10th: 100%, Low error rate on supervisor review, Maintain the client load set by the founders

Compensation & Growth
Starting rate: $4.00 USD/hour, part-time to start.
Hours: Expected to grow to full-time as the firm acquires more clients.
