JOB OVERVIEW

Bookkeeper (Australian Business) – Part-Time | Long-Term Position
We are looking for a reliable, detail-oriented, and experienced Bookkeeper to join our team on a long-term basis.

You will primarily support an Australian car rental and Airbnb business, as well as assist with bookkeeping for a Family Trust. We are looking for someone who has experience with Australian bookkeeping standards and is comfortable working independently.

Responsibilities
Car Rental & Airbnb Business
Perform weekly or monthly bank, credit card, and loan reconciliations
Business bank account (approximately 150–200 transactions per month)
Business credit card (approximately 150–200 transactions per month)
Process supplier invoices and schedule payments (approximately 5–10 invoices per month)
Prepare general journal entries for new vehicle purchases
Record general journal entries as required
Prepare, reconcile, and lodge Business Activity Statements (BAS) and Instalment Activity Statements (IAS) in accordance with Australian Taxation Office (ATO) requirements
Maintain and update vehicle finance schedules
Assist the external accountant with End of Financial Year (EOFY) closing and tax preparation
Assist with documentation required for annual bank reviews
Complete ad hoc bookkeeping and finance tasks as required
Register over 100 cars annually with credit card

Family Trust
Perform quarterly bank and loan reconciliations
Bank account (approximately 15 transactions per quarter)
Credit card (approximately 15 transactions per quarter)
Process supplier invoices and schedule payments (approximately 5 per quarter)
Prepare, reconcile, and lodge BAS and IAS
Assist the external accountant with EOFY closing and tax preparation
Assist with annual bank review requirements

Requirements
Proven bookkeeping experience (minimum 3 years)
Experience with Australian bookkeeping is highly preferred

Must be registered with ATO as a registered BAS agent

Strong understanding of BAS, IAS, GST, and Australian accounting principles
Experience with Xero (required)
Excellent reconciliation skills
High attention to detail and accuracy
Strong English communication skills
Able to work independently and meet deadlines
Reliable internet connection and quiet work environment

Nice to Have
Experience with vehicle finance or fleet management bookkeeping
Experience supporting Airbnb or hospitality businesses
Previous experience working with Australian clients

Working Hours
Part-time
Flexible working hours (some overlap with Australian business hours preferred)
